For those that enjoyed Schekman's piece on The Guardian a couple of days ago (*), this should be icing on the cake: he's doing an AMA on reddit:

Resumão:

(1) 40% de analfabetismo funcional;
(2) Expansão sem regulamentação;

For the folks that truly believe that "grades" measure "education", this study should help put some facts in perspective,

» http://www.mit.edu/newsoffice/2013/even-when-test-scores-go-up-some-cognitive-abilities-dont-1211.html

Also, this: "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." (And, "No!", this was not said by Einstein. :-P )

Introduction

» http://about.me/danieldf/

A well-known scientist (some say it was Bertrand Russell) once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the center of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy. At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: "What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise." The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, "What is the tortoise standing on?" "You're very clever, young man, very clever," said the old lady. "But it's turtles all the way down!"
