Hi, as i already wrote some posts with unbootable versions after the beta4 (including CM nightlys too, of Android 4.3)

I flashed some different Kernel,

1. http://yank555-lu.net/
2. http://www.boeffla-kernel.de/

both are good Kernel. With both Kernel i get the same issue as with updating my beta4 slimrom, it boots FIRST time, then after a reboot it stucks on Galaxy S3 boot screen (Kernel Problem)

I flash the kernel on the beta4 slimrom of course. One thing i noticed is, the Kernel of the beta4 slimrom is 3.0.80+ autobuild@slimautobuild#1 and with SELinux-Status Deactivated

Every update since then if slimrom has SELinux-Status Moderate. Also the 2 Kernel is tested have both SELinux-Status Moderate

I have also found some people having kind of same problems with their Galaxy S2 for example. They stuck on Device Boot screen/ Black screen (bootloop?!).

I tried different CM nightlys aswell, no luck, i can restore a backup of the very early nightlys, that works. But every other nightly later doesn't boot.

Im pretty sure that it has something to do with this SELinux-Status and/or the Bootloader maybe?

But i don't understand why none wants to talk about it?

Im curious what will happen when Samsung releases their 4.3 version for the Galaxy S3, or when 4.3.x or 4.4 come out.

To bad i may have to wait until that and im stuck with 4.2.2 or beta4. :(

My Bootloader is: XXEMG4

btw. I also reflashed  latest samsung stock rom etc. everything stock. And tried to install slimrom or CM after that etc. no luck, it just doesn't boot. beta4 works tho, as already said before. I find it very funny and annoying at the same time, lol.

greetings

Hi,

does really no dev know what is going on here with the GT-I9300 Intl.? The latest Build 1 from today also doesn't boot on my device. Just like every version after beta4. Just like every CM version. But 4.2.2 ROMS do work without any problem at all.

For example it installs the latest slimrom, as an upgrade from beta4 OR as a full wipe, full format, factory reset what ever. After install it boots no problem here, i can do whatever i want to. Then when i do turn off my phone or reboot it, the phone stucks at the Galaxy S3 boot screen and nothing happens after that. This does not happen with beta4 or any older version like 4.2.2 etc.

Im not sure but i guess i read somewhere that it means if the phone bootloops on phone bootscreen it  is a problem with the kernel. And hanging on ROM bootscreen is a problem with the rom itself, is that right?

I sent a log on my running device to Lars. Didnt get an answer back yet. So maybe someone knows anything about this annoying stuff.

My guess was that it may have to do witht he CSC i am using? But why would it?! I don't know.

greetings

+Daniel Faure I've installed the beta 4 gapps zip file via recovery mod. It's that the right way to install it?

Edit/Update:

Okay... i now flashed latest Weekly with 4.3.1 AND the Kernel of Goody

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270158

Based on Siyah Kernel. Point is, SELinux is OFF in this Kernel. And oh wonder, i can boot any version now of Slimroms or CM etc. so, reason why my GS3 didn't want to boot past the Kernel (Galaxy S3 boot screen) has to do with the fact that other Kernel have SELinux "ON".

Thats why slimbean beta4 kernel booted, there SELinux was also "OFF".

And i have to say, that sucks if i have to search for custom Kernel all the time to even be able to run any version of a custom rom. Why is this crap even activated if gives serious problems to some users? I don't get it.

greetings and thanks for help

Latest beta5 gives me enormous problems. Random reboots during battery loading, reboot during deinstallation in play store or titanium. freezes on a random basis, for example in twitter app turning back on auto sync via quick settings... booom freeze. have to hard reboot but the really bad thing is, then it doesnt boot anymore. It also turns off sometimes with no reason. Have to go back to beta4 backup, where everything runs fine actually.

i did an upgrade beta4 to beta5. no full wipe etc.

Last days i went through some ROMS because CM 10.2 nightlys, or actually Android 4.3 has some stupid bugs at least on the i9300 int, with some apps having blacked out parts and flickering graphic glitches etc.

http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/76313-102-8-15-major-bug-screen-black-partly/page__st__40

i was just looking around to see if its a CM problem or a general 4.3 problem. Every ROM has this problem.  And CM is lacking some options ir eally miss because they deleted them for now to rework the menu whatever. Like backlighning of menu keys of Galaxy S3 and so on.

But then i found this "little"Slim  ROM here... and man im pretty impressed so far by it. Its all those features i missed of AOKP but all the stuff of CM is also in there (privacy guard etc.) And damn, why does it boot so effin fast compared to all other roms? I like that. And it seems to run super smooth so far. I will test it some more days and i guess i will keep using it. If the devs are pushing out updates every week (weekly) then im pretty sure i will use it. I stopped AOKP usage because for my taste their updates are to slow. NBo offense tho, they doing a great job like every other dev out there, i also donated to them just like to CM and i will to Slim of course.

But other roms have much more frequent/faster updates. So is SlimRom based on CM and AOKP, or just the source of AOSP and then some CM/AOKP features put in it?

+Lars Greiss great responses and well written. It's amazing you give the time to answer so many questions and being so friendly in the community. I'm sure you are a role model for many persons.

I'm currently not on slim, went back to stock on my t0lte but if I ever go back to custom (and I will) slim is my no1 choice by far because of the great platform and development. Would also like to mention +Josue Rivera here as he is given great support all the time for my specific device and is family.
