This article’s structured into three parts:

Developer warning signs: signs that the developer lacks important knowledge

Client warning signs: potential signs of trouble behavior

Project warning signs: signs that a project idea itself may not be well-conceived

If you have sites on the (mt) Media Temple Grid check them soon. You may be showing a database connection error

A critical update today did something that necessitates updating the database passwords ( you don't have to change them to something new, but you have to update them ).

The big takeaway is better plugin search. Long overdue, that.
The WordPress Plugin Directory is getting a facelift which could result in users finding relevant plugins more easily -- both there and by Google.

We’re at a turning point: 2017 is going to be the year that we’re going to see features in WordPress which require hosts to have HTTPS available. Just as JavaScript is a near necessity for smoother user experiences and more modern PHP versions are critical for performance, SSL just makes sense as the next hurdle our users are going to face.

Learning Javascript may be essential to earning a living in my future.

So, it looks like I need to spend some time learning Javasript, because I'm nothing like good enough to keep earning the living I do now if WordPress moves to mostly Javascript.

Introduction
Who I Am
I am a father and a husband. It was the most wonderful surprise of my life when at the age of 38 I discovered I could be that after all. I am absolutely thrilled that I am able to provide for my family, working from home and homeschooling my children with my wife.

I am a self employed web developer with a strong emphasis on the WordPress platform for small business direct response websites. I operate my freelance web development business under the name Dane Morgan Media.

I am also working on developing a series of WordPress themes that i intend to release as open source with an attached support subscription for those who want my support for their sites.

Together with my wife i produce learning materials for our children and we are beginning to make these available for sale to other homeschooling parents who may not have the time to do so on their own.

I am a Geocacher, 1/4th of Team AZMO,  my wife, Diane and my two children, K'tala and Devan make up the rest of the team. I also have started logging finds under a single account, Don't Call Me Sir.

I am no longer active, but I am and ever shall remain a soldier. No one who has served out of love for their countrymen ever completely stops being a soldier.

I am a California born, Arizona Expat, living in Missouri. I fully expect to live out the rest of my days a resident of Missouri, never to return to my beloved Arizona. I deem that price, as great as it is, insignificant compared to the family I would not have had I not paid it.

My interests (the things I will often post about):
Geocaching
WordPress (and other CMS Software)
Blogging
Web Development
Web Design
Small Business
Photography (of an amazingly amateur level)
Hiking
Missouri
History
Cooking (esp. Grilling)
Did I mention Geocaching?

No Wi-Fi. Really. They say they have Wi-Fi, but they don't. They have a router that works of and on, but at no time did that lead to the internet. Fortunately I can use my phone as a hit spot. Other than that it's a nice hotel. Clean and comfortable. If you don't care about Wi-Fi, you'll be plenty happy here.

I liked this hotel a lot. Clean and comfortable with a nice hour breakfast. The beds were an odd size though. My wife slept with my daughter because, while they were wider than a single, we didn't think we would fit in one together.
