Build a Solid Foundation for Book Promotion!

The first step to building a strong foundation for your book promotion is to start “building your author platform” –  in other words you need to develop a reputation, connections, and online followers.

Building a platform takes time, so it’s best to start as early as possible (ideally when you decide to write a book). Here are some essential steps to platform building:

Doris-Maria makes a great point here:  "Actually it is not a countdown, but rather a count-up."

New Way to Promote Your Book - Kindle Countdown Deals – See How They Work
Kindle Countdown Deals are limited time discounts on Kindle eBooks. A note about the pending price increase tells customers the regular price and the promotional price on the book’s detail page, as well as a countdown clock telling them how much time is left at the promotional price. This Amazon feature is more like a sale that gives authors and publishers another way to push through sales of a Kindle exclusive book. They set incremental pricing which will change at decided intervals.
