Here’s an animation of V838 Monocerotis (you may need to wait a few seconds for it to fully load) and the subsequent light echo that followed its outburst in 2002, which astronomers initially believed to be a nova as it started to dim however the star returned to its original brightness over the following two months.

At its peak, the star brightened to around a million times solar luminosity and was one of the brightest in the Milky Way. The light echo we see is caused by light reflected off the dust and gas around the star, producing a vision of expanding rings of light.

Hubble captured eight images over four years from 2002 and have been morphed together to give us this unprecedented view and insight into a very unique cosmic event!

Nanowire Battery Could Last a Lifetime
A team of chemists have just created new nanowire batteries that can be charged over 200,000 times without degradation.

Researchers were working on creating batteries with gold-coated nanowires, which are extremely thin and fragile but still highly conductive. But the problem with wires is they eventually break.
The study's leader tried coating the nanowires in a thin plexiglass-like gel and started cycling them. A battery goes through one cycle each time it's drained and then fully recharged. It turns out the gel made the wires more flexible and helped them not break, even after hundreds of thousands of charges.
Normally, the batteries found in personal electronics — or even in cars — will noticeably lose capacity after 5,000 to 7,000 cycles.
This new battery, on the other hand, made it to 200,000 cycles. That's like 30 to 40 times more life without any signs of losing charge.
By designing nanowires with a special protective coating, researchers have created an electrode that withstands hundreds of thousands of cycles, serving as a proof of concept for longer-lasting batteries to power everything from smartphones to spacecraft.

Melissa sounds pretty good on this guitar. I'm thinking of getting a smaller parlor guitar like the AVN1 so thanks.

I am NOT recommending cartrawler.com.  True, they have some great deals on cars BUT ONLY IF you have an International Drivers license.

I arrived at the Dollar counter to pick up my car and they refused to honor my purchase through cartrawler because I do not have an international drivers license (I was renting in Florida - I have an Illinois license).  I had to purchase my vehicle at the desk rate, over $700.

Boooo! cartrawler.  Booooo! Dollar!
CarTrawler powers ground transportation partnerships worldwide with the latest in travel technology and online retailing.

Very odd. International Licenses are not accepted in many states, Illinois being one of them.
