+Janet Tavakoli  thanks for sharing that report. my personal opinion is that facebook has no friggin' clue how many fake accounts are on there, and it's just guessing. so any numbers it announces really can't be trusted, which means there's no way to estimate growth or decline in fakes. growth is usually a safe bet, though.

personally, I operate 4 accounts (shhh, don't tell facebook). one I actually use, one is for a pen name I maintain, and the other two are for testing. I do regularly run across people with multiple accounts, which is actually a good idea for people who are concerned about their privacy. so take 1 billion users, slice that in half, and that is probably closer to the 'real' population of facebook. still, 500 million ain't cheesecake.
