I've gone out a couple of times today to watch some Bald Eagles that have set up a nest across the great Mississippi River from New Orleans. Here are a couple of the pics I took.

Sling TV

Is anyone else using this?  I just started using it for a 7-day trial.  It's attractive to me because my biggest problem with not having cable is not having ESPN.  With this I get ESPN/ESPN2.  I also get other channels including CNN though I wish it came with HLN as well.  HLN is available as part of a small add-on package for $5 more.

This might be worth the $20.

Mardi Gras Day 2015

I didn't take nearly the amount of pictures this year as I have in the past but here are some I took this morning during the Zulu parade.

Well, that's maybe not what you have in mind, but all I tried to say is people could see it that way.

Wait. WHAT? What previous trip did you take where it WAS allowed?

Same as for people who go on cruises. Most of the firearms discovered at cruise terminal screening are in bags that the passenger didn't fully examine before packing.

Stop Whining

Ok, so, the independent flower shops that deliver for 1-800-Flowers did a crappy job for Valentine's Day.  It's OK to be upset about that but stop saying it ruined your special day
That's just bullshit.

If your wife or girlfriend considers it a ruined day because of something you had no control over, maybe you're in the wrong relationship.
More than a few deliveries from 1-800-Flowers failed to arrive on time for Valentine's Day -- or turned up horrendously disfigured.

Forced Change
How Hurricane Katrina forced many of us to change our lives.

Please read and reshare as this is a project that is very dear to me

"Has anything ever happened in your life that, if it wouldn't have happened, you wouldn't be here today?"

A couple friends of mine got together to make a film about how Katrina forced people to change and start over, often for the better.
I can related to this firsthand as I was there as well.

The directors are friends of mine and two of the subjects were former housemates and another was a good friend as well.
This project needs your help

My friend Rennik, the producer, has set up a Kickstarter fund to raise the money necessary to have this documentary released in time for the 10th anniversary of Katrina.  Right now, 20% of the goal has been raised with 27 days left.  If you can't contribute then please, at least, share this publicly to gain as much exposure as possible.
Rennik Soholt is raising funds for Forced Change on Kickstarter! Watch a ten-year journey through the lives of five New Orleanians displaced by Hurricane Katrina unfold on screen in Forced Change.

A quaint little place that I just discovered via Google Maps. I went for a late breakfast (11AM) so the restaurant wasn't crowded at all. That, and being a Tuesday, made for quick and friendly service. The breakfast was good and fairly priced.

Absolutely horrendous. Rarely do I get a meal under 10 minutes. Usually 1/2 of it is cold since they assemble part of it then wait for the rest. By that time, the first part of the order is cold. Service is horrendous as well.

An excellent little spot for breakfast with both inside and outside tables. This is not your standard place to eat though. No one comes to your table at first. You walk in, grab a menu, order at the counter, pay and then wait at whatever table you want to sit at until a person brings your food out. My breakfast was an omelet stuffed with bacon (tons of it), ham, sausage, and cheddar cheese. I had a biscuit and coffee as well. There are several types of coffee to choose from :)

Refuel is a cozy little place around the riverbend area that I decided to try for the first time. It's a walk up cafe where you place your order at the counter and they bring it out to you. For my breakfast, I took advantage of their special and had the goat cheese omelette with bacon, onions and peppers. I chose the potatoes as my side dish and the meal was served with two slices of wheat toast. The entire meal, including my coffee, was absolutely delicious and it was served in good time. I'll definitely go back since I'm living in the area now.
