here are a lot of photos of Leica's new camera. drool away.
Earlier today, Leica unveiled its new Leica T camera system. It's an all-new mirrorless camera platform with a distinctly different design than anything Leica has produced before. Leica had a...

Lytro has revealed its next project and it looks pretty interesting.
"Okay, can I take it out of the box now?" Lytro product director Colvin Pitts wants to show me the camera he’s been working on since 2007. He cautions that it’s just an early model,...

It's interesting how few Google apps I use on Android anymore.

Many of the core apps I use are not made by Google. Email (CloudMagic), SMS (hello), calendar (Today Calendar), gallery (QuickPic), notes (SimpleNote), todos (Todoist): all third party apps on my phone.

Maps, Chrome (for now), and music remain the Google apps that I still use on Android.

I keep trying to use other apps, but keep floating back to stock after a while. I tried out mailbox, any.do, any.do's calendar app (name escapes me), Swype, Swiftkey, minuum, fleksy, etc.

Anyone have some good suggestions? I'm open to any app that's polished. They always seem to add more features, but then miss on some the stock ones do.

I got to take a look at Leica's new mirrorless camera. It represents a bold design shift for the company.
Leica is best known for being a traditionalist camera company. It took years for it to release a digital version of its revered M rangefinder, and it's one of the few camera companies left that...

The Lytro Illum is the Google Glass of photography. A $1,600 camera you should not buy, but maybe means something years from now?

Hangouts for Android is getting a big update this week with a widget and combined SMS and chat conversations (finally!).

Unfortunately, it's still pretty clunky: incoming messages are the same color regardless of what service they come from, and you have to manually choose what type of message you're sending. It's not a seamless integration like iMessage.

Also, would it be too much to ask for actionable notifications? It's one of the main reasons I use a third-party SMS app instead of Hangouts.
Google is crossing off a major complaint about Hangouts this week: the messaging app will finally merge your SMS and Hangouts conversations. Users can pick between Hangouts and SMS when sending a...

+Dan Seifert Actually, I'm glad the SMS/Hangouts thing is a manual toggle and here's why:
A lot of people have Google accounts and I have them added on it, but not everyone uses it, and not everyone (especially iPhone users) have Hangouts installed on their phone, so if I was sending messages to people I want to make sure they get my message. If it automatically sent through Hangouts and they don't even have Hangouts installed it would get annoying.

It would also be super confusing for the average user since they'd have no idea why the other person isn't getting their messages.
