I spent some time with the Google Play Edition of the HTC One. You'll never believe what happened next.
I like things pure. I don't put sugar in my coffee, there are no bumper stickers on my car, and I typically don't put a case on any smartphone I own. Google's special Google Play Edition...

Awesome. Good to see that they worked more closely together this year to add in some of the phone specific extras.

things you should buy instead of Google Glass today:

1 p. nice laptop
1 ticket to Hawaii
a semester at community college
5 Chromebooks
7 Moto Gs
15 Amazon Fire TVs
17 months of unlimited espresso at some of NYC's finest coffee shops
or… 375 packages of Oreos

I'd split the Oreos and espresso.

+Patrick Metts it is by Bluetooth to your phone or it will join a WiFi network as well.

I have decided to take my Oreo money and wait till after the Google IO conference. If they say glass won't be out till 2015, I'll buy a set with my invite code. If they say it will be shipping this year by Christmas, I'll wait till a retail model is available.

I played with them at the local glass event a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed them. 1500 is still a hard justification though.

+David Pierce's review of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is here.

It's the commodity smartphone, the Toyota Camry of phones. It does everything it should rather well, but without an ounce of style or consideration for design. But it's still a good phone and millions will buy it.
"It’s all in the little things." It’s a common axiom in sports, in design, and in life. Inches make champions; big things have small beginnings; a small leak can sink a giant ship. It’s a...

Mailbox is finally available for Android today. It's a great email app and performs very well.

There's just one big problem (for me): the notifications aren't actionable. No delete, no reply, no archive, no mark as read. It really feels like a big oversight by the Mailbox devs, any email app worth its salt on Android offers actionable notifications.
"Who in their right mind would build an email client?" Gentry Underwood asked himself nearly two years ago. At the time, it was a fact of life that email sucked. Nobody cared about rethinking...

I actually think the navigation buttons on the non-GPE look better than stock. Smaller and cleaner somehow.

what if I told you that Remission-era Mastodon collided with a hair metal band from 1987?

yes, it would be awesome.

Continuing the onslaught of reviews today on The Verge, here's my look at the Samsung Gear Fit.

It's not very good. (The Fit, not the review.)
I’m in the final stretch. My legs are aching; I’m drenched in sweat. The finish line is near, I can feel it. My wrist buzzes. An email: Amazon finally shipped my order of Rice Krispies Treats...

This is BIG. I've been waiting a long time for Sonos to support Google Music, and it's here.
Google Play Music is today adding native support for Sonos, letting Android users stream songs to the hi-fi speaker systems more easily. The ability to send music directly to the popular speakers...

I have a new favorite Chromebook and surprise (!), it's a Dell.
Chromebooks are the simplest computers you can buy today, but they’ve proven a tricky formula for manufacturers to get right. The perfect Chromebook is cheap, fast enough, well-built, and lasts...

My experiences with cheap windows laptops have been awful. The last two barely lasted a year before they started having major issues (aside from the terrible track pads right from the start). I'm pretty sure that my next laptop purchase will be one of these. Thanks for the review +Dan Seifert
