The Newly Restored Pulitzer Amsterdam Unveiled
Pulitzer Amsterdam, the iconic 45-year old hotel has announced that phase one of its extensive restoration project is complete, with the Keizersgracht canal side of the hotel now open to guests. 80 redesigned guestrooms and suites are available to book and showcase a new design concept that takes inspiration from the history of the labyrinth of 25 interlinked canal properties which house the hotel.

The 400-year-old buildings have been sensitively restored to expose original and historic canal house features that have been combined with modern-day luxury elements. From trade merchants to flamboyant Dutch aristocrats, past inhabitants of the canal houses have inspired the rich character of the hotel to bring through the traditional essence of the Dutch capital and tell a range of stories that will inspire and intrigue guests and visitors.

Leading the team of highly skilled designers is Creative Director, Jacu Strauss, formerly a senior designer at Tom Dixon's Design Research Studio; Strauss has previously led projects including Barbecoa for Jamie Oliver and Mondrian London at Sea Containers. He commented; “It's incredible to see how our visions for Pulitzer Amsterdam have come to life. I have loved immersing myself in this project to celebrate and enhance the heritage of these Golden Age canal houses, we're really proud of what we've achieved and are excited to welcome guests to enjoy the new Pulitzer experience.”

Guests can choose from four distinctive guestroom categories and three suite categories, as well as the beautifully romantic Pulitzer Suite. Four exceptional Collector's Suites with private entrances and stunning views of the canals are inspired by the narrative of elaborate characters who may have lived in the buildings throughout the years; from a compulsive art devotee to an eccentric book lover; a music composer and a grand antique collector.

No two rooms are the same, each balances Amsterdam's rich past and contemporary present in an eclectic mix of finishes, designs and elements which complement each room's individual charm. In this home away from home guests can enjoy the use of free wifi, a vintage telephone, Le Labo amenities and a bike repair set.

Pulitzer Amsterdam's new restaurant, Jansz., is a quietly elegant neighbourhood restaurant with an easy-going Dutch attitude. Executive chef Cassidy Hallman has used an old-fashioned, quality-loving approach to create a menu of beautifully crafted modern classics that respect the simplicity of quality produce and ingredients. Dishes include beef tartar with quail egg (starter), Dover sole meunière and Morano spiced salmon.

A timeless cocktail lounge, Pulitzer's Bar, also debuts this week and brings to Amsterdam a classic and chic hotel bar, with sumptuous furnishings and a rich and intimate atmosphere. The cocktail menu offers drinks that are classic in element and style, but modern in execution. Each follows one consistent recipe: one part of the past, one part of the present, and one part of revolutionary technique. For example, the Pineapple Old Fashioned will be served on a bed of haw to add another layer of aroma to the drink. Further in the menu, the Gin & Tonic has been reinvented. Both the gin and the tonic will be carbonated for the best distribution of gin aroma throughout the whole drink.

The second phase of the restoration has now begun and will conclude in Autumn 2016 when the hotel will celebrate its Grand Opening as both the Keizersgracht canal side and the Prinsengracht canal side join. Once complete, the hotel will feature 225 guestroomsand suites. Some of the sumptuous features that will form part of the Grand Opening launch will include the decadent lobby and the jewel in the Pulitzer crown, the Pulitzer Garden - a serene hideaway.

Pulitzer Amsterdam is located in one of Amsterdam's chicest neighbourhoods, within easy reach of the Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, the Van Gogh Museum and The Anne Frank House. The fashionable Nine Streets, the quaint shops of Jordaan, the flower market and the Royal Palace are also a short distance away.

Pretty good food. Lots of side dishes, quality kimchi, bulgogi, pan fried fish, fried chicken. Only problem is that it's quite small, cramped. Big groups should get RSVP.

Experience: Just bought a used car from Melody Toyota after spending about a week of self-directed research into my ideal price pt, car models, getting financing, and taking care of everything except the test drive. The salespeople are friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The one I worked with, Mike Nazari, has over 10 years of experience, all at Melody Toyota! Location: This dealership is conveniently located near BART and CalTrain. They have a lot of beautiful cars, both new and used, all with clean carfaxes. They use pretty recent technology, making their website well maintained and customer follow up really solid.

FOOD: Off the secret menu, you can order the "Brass Monkey" which is basically the Little Star with Italian sausage added. This pizza never disappoints. They also have well-seasoned, tasty chicken wings. They don't give very many which is unfortunate, but still worth trying. COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS: I'd rate Little Star better than Patxi's which is the other well-known deep dish place in SF; the pizza is more filling (since the crust is made of cornmeal). RESERVATIONS: No reservations are taken. Also, come with your entire party, or you won't be actually on the list.

I love the rice porridge here and the Chinese deli is always really delicious. So good and so cheap. Can't believe these prices exist in San Francisco.

This place has got the little details down, green veggies and quail egg in some really tasty ramen. Location is perfect for San Francisco Googlers / Silicon Valley types traveling up north after work. NOTE: It's very small and they don't take RSVP so come with groups of just 2-4.
