Here's a fun scenario. +Peter Karpouzas wrote this article back in December last year, Fresh Link Finder only just spotted it now, obviously somebody clicked on a link - maybe a SQT member, who knows. Anyway... if this was 2005 I'd be like, "thanks for the link dude!", but post-Penguin I'm thinking this should go to a disavow file, primarily due to commercial anchor text use and content patterns. Now, in an ideal world I shouldn't have to do this as I did nothing to influence this webmaster in creating this link. Keen to hear your thoughts.

I agree with +Jon Dunn , it is only link out to authority method and if it was me personally I would ask for it to be removed, give him a few days to remove it and if not disavow it. But that's just my personal opinion.
Oh, and if that his site ranks for any of the terms he is linking back for then would be something really wrong with the algorithm!!!Jan 20, 2014
Oh dear, just take a look at the link profile to the PKO site, kind of says it all!!!Jan 20, 2014
I just checked Wayback Machine - nothing. Google cache shows a late December version with his links nofollowed at that point too, making me think, maybe it was like that from the start and as intended as opposed to being changed afterwards.Jan 20, 2014
Why not get anal in a post penguin world +Phil Gregory? If you ignore individual links over time you get lots of crappy links.
I dont think dissavowing crap links is classed as "over optimisation" in fact you could argue it is the opposite?
I think weighing up time/benefit eg not long/clean profile its worth dealing with questionable links as they happen.Jan 20, 2014
James NorquayModeratorI would disavow, because it looks spammy. I also like his site wide footer links on client sites that say "SEO by PK...Killer Search Engine Optimisation" LOLJan 21, 2014
The style of the article shouts "paid links", so a disavow would be worth it, even though the link to Dejan SEO is now nofollowed. A better considered article, say, listing 100 SEO consultants in Australia would have worked for him.Feb 8, 2014
