What to disavow?
Last week we noticed a malicious wildcard redirect from www.getcashtonight.com (link profile: http://goo.gl/2sF8Nx) towards our site and immediately disavowed the domain. The question is whether we also need to disavow that domains' links as well (see illustration). I hope the answer is no.
Just to be sure I also included this question in tonight's session with +John Mueller http://www.google.com/moderator/?#15/e=203709&t=203709.89&f=203709.6d5cea&q=203709.6d5cea&v=4

How did you discover this domain redirects to yours? Did getcashtonight.com show up as a link in a backlink report? When performing research on a client's site for negative backlinks, part of that for me includes investigating sites which are 301 redirected towards the client's site... which sometimes appear in a backlink report from OSE/Majestic, but occasionally I discover others that do not show up. What I would love to see is a tool which you can run a domain through and see any domains currently redirected towards it.Dec 16, 2013
John Mueller has replied to Dan's question and the answer is compatible with the theory (the disavow tool just makes links nofollowable; redirections are not affected by the disavow tool).
The interesting part of John's answer is when he says that, while in pure theory you should disavow the links/domains pointing to the one that redirects to your site, in this case he wouldn't worry about it. That means that there is an additional mechanism that prevents your website from receiving any "juice" from those "natalik. net" websites.
