Wow. This is a remarkable meeting and discussion to have. I've heard David Simon speak very articulately about his thoughts around drugs and crime in the US, so applause for The White House for being brave enough to discuss these issues so candidly here.
Hey there Chris. Would love to see and hear a video of the Second Shooter in action to get an idea of the amount of noise that comes from the motors when it's moving. I'm mostly interested in using it for interviews, so having something that's quiet is key.
It seems many people have been requesting for a Camera Raw type system in Premiere/AE for quite a while. This is quite a good step towards it. Though I would like to see a similar noise reduction and sharpening section added.
Looks like a great piece of kit. What's the operating noise like on this? I'm keen to get one to run second camera on interviews and I'm conscious of how much noise the motors and mechanisms make and if it gets picked up on a lapel. If you've got any video of it running or could give me an idea of what you think of the noise it makes?
Well I havn't used it much yet. I have plans for it but have been busy editing. I think using it for interviews is one of its primary benefits. when using it for an interview you are most likely going to have it run pretty slow. Keeping it very quiet. The gear ratio makes a difference of how loud it is. The slower you have it the quieter it is. Let's say you have it do a 30-45 second move across a 3 foot slider (my set up) I dont think it will be very noticeable in a typical interview setting. (not a studio) If you were wanting to have it slide across in 5-10 seconds across a 3 foot distance thats another story. It will make enough noise to be picked up. But if you are doing that with an interview I am not sure what you are doing. haha. I shot this video with my phone while shooting. Can you hear it?
