In my limited experience, most teachers want a personal Macbook and iPad (so they can help the kids better) based on wanting the best for themselves. They are one of the biggest impediments to Chromebook adoption. Are many putting their own needs/preferences ahead of the kids'?
My bias is to buy teachers their Macbooks and iPads, install Chrome on them so they can work with the kids, but buy Chromebooks for the classroom.
BTW: this comment likely does not apply to any teachers reading this forum. You are the good ones and doing all you can to prepare our kids for what is ahead.
