I was wondering what your schools are using to track Chromebook repairs? We use a ticket system that is also used for all other technology-related items. It is not an efficient tool. Does anyone have a good system they use or have created themselves?

Hello Everyone,

We have been trying to sell the idea of a learning digital portfolio to our high school teachers. The idea being that a student adds 1-2 items per class, per semester (with reflections) over the course of four years. It has yet to take off in a meaningful way beyond a handful of teachers at a few of our schools.

For a student to visibly see his or her growth throughout high school would be incredibly powerful. Plus, it could certainly help schools understand the personal needs of each student. We have created a guide: http://tech.guhsd.net/resources/digital-portfolio-resources and everything.

So... is anyone doing this? I'd love to show multi-year and multi-subject examples. Plus, any advice on how to get traditional-style teachers to buy into this notion.

Thanks!

Anyone doing SBAC testing with version 57? If so, any issues?

Hey all - anyone use Lightspeed's Classroom Orchestrator to monitor Chromebooks? Looking at it vs. GoGuardian's teacher dashboard.

Hi Everyone - My district is moving towards 1:1 and one of the big hang-ups is what will happen if a student damages or loses a machine. What are the practices out there? I've heard about insurance plans, but haven't found the right info yet. Help? Thank you! Feel free to email me at danmcdowell@gmail.com

Easy Accents Update:
I have just made a major update to the Easy Accents add-on that should make it easier to use.  Based on user feedback there was a lot of clicking in the current add-on.

With the new version once you click on an accent the add-on will re-focus back to your document and also move the cursor in front of the inserted accent allowing you to continue typing without re-clicking on your document.  This is especially useful for touch screen devices as you can type and then touch the accent you want and continue to type.

The new version should be available now.
