Thank you to all the competitors, spectators, casters, admins and even the players on stand by or walk in that didnt make the bracket. The event went very smooth, was very fun to be a part of. Stay tuned for more events from this team. And congrats to DREWCORK for taking first place. He will be submitted to Blizzard to move on to Stage 2 of the Fireside Gathering Championships.

Champions,

In one week from today many of you will be gathering at Salt Lake Gaming Con to put your skills and experience to the test in a fight for dominance, bragging rights, World Championship Points and a piece of the $1000 prize pool.

This note if a reminder to
1. Reserve your ticket
2. Bring your friends
3. Prepare your decks
4. Prepare your device
5. Stick around at the Con

## Reserve Your Ticket
It is very important that you reserve a ticket. There is no tournament entrance fee (although a SLGC Pass is needed to get into the hall). Pick the ONE group that best fits your schedule and make sure you have reserved a seat. If you do not see your battletag on the list of tickets then you are NOT reserved to play. Remember that the top four players from each group will advance. Currently three of the groups have only four players reserved and we cant let them all just walk on to victory, we must join their group and make them fight for the right to advance.

### Group A Thr Aug6
Sign in at 3pm Matches start at 4pm

### Group B Fri Aug7
Sign in at 10am Matches start at 11am

### Group C Fri Aug7
Sign in at 1:30pm Matches start at 2:30pm

Reserve Ticket http://bit.ly/1ODVyyg

### Group D Fri Aug7
Sign in at 5pm Matches start at 6pm
View Tickets http://bit.ly/1MWw66w
Reserve Ticket http://bit.ly/1IsTg0d

So to reiterate you can play in only one Group. The top four players of the group's double elimination bracket will be invited to return on Saturday August 8th at 10am for the Final Stage of 16 players.
We will have a station to reserve a ticket on site same day HOWEVER please sign up now if you can so that we can better prepare.

Also be sure to remind me if you already have a) World Championship points, b) qualified for Fireside Championship Stage 2 or c) finished Top 4 in a Hearthside Event (fka FACEBREAK) so that we can give you prioritized seeding in your group.

## Bring Your Friends
Forward this email to your friends, family and coworkers so they have the links they need to easily reserve a ticket. Competing along side and even against your friends is really fun; a cheering section goes a long ways to boost confidence. Regardless of how many people play there will be a $1000 prize pool (donated by the generous +Salty Hearth ) however we can only distribute World Championship Points if we have at least 32 people participate. There is no entrance fee so your friends just need to grab a SLGC Pass and they can carpool with you. (If they win the whole thing you can be sure to get gas money.) We will have a station to reserve a ticket on site same day HOWEVER please have friends sign up now if you can so that we can better prepare.

Really let everybody know. The more competitors we have the more fierce the competition and the more rewarding the wins are.

## Prepare your Decks
Ok Round 1 is going to be a Blind Pick format similar to one that ESL has used in their Legendary series and similar to the format "Last Hero Standing". During the Group Stage there is a double elimination bracket. In each round of that bracket you will be matched up with one other player and you will play up to three games. Game 1: you each pick any deck you want. Game 2: the winner keeps playing the same deck, the loser has a Class defeated so they must pick a deck from another class. Same idea for Game 3 if needed. So what that means is during the MATCHUP you may not play 2 different decks from the same class. HOWEVER in the next round, when your matched up against your next opponent, ALL of your options of decks and classes are available to start playing with. This means you could play for example a control Warrior deck in round 1 and a grim Warrior deck in round 2. you just may not try out BOTH of those decks during the same round/matchup.
We hope that this format is easy for new players who have not built all of high tier cards and decks. We also hope it gives you the opportunity to prepare a variety of different decks to play for the tournament. Consider which decks you are strong with; consider which decks your are weak against and build a counter to that deck. Be careful when building counter decks though as if you win you must continue to play that deck so it needs to be well rounded enough to continue to survive.

Also remember that the Group Stage is double elimination so if you get blown up early you still have lots of games to play; you still have a chance. Also, since you can afford a single lose and still advance maybe this is an opportunity to try some new crazy deck. Surprise us.

If you qualify to Stage 2 you will be invited to return on Saturday. That format is single elimination Conquest Format. If you qualify you must submit your decks prior to Checking In for Stage 2. So start to plan those decks now. Your invitation to Stage 2 will include a link to submit the decks before you Check In on Saturday.

## Prepare Your Device

Remember to bring your own device. Please try not to bring a desktop. Laptops welcome, phones and tablets encouraged. We will run extension cables and power strips for your various charges. Bring a full charge and a charging cable. I will have dedicated WiFi signals. The password will change as the tournament stages progress to ensure that the players in the current group have a strong connection. Once you sit down to play be prepped to keep playing. No canceling the challenge to change up your decks, no using 3rd party apps to automate tasks in the client, no taking calls or otherwise messaging during a game. We have no hesitancy just kicking a player out mid match if we see any cheating. Disable for the weekend your device's Automatic Updates, BitTorrent clients and other software that could stress the network. If you have a cell plan be prepared to switch to it if the network becomes laggy. (I am doing everything I can to prevent that scenario.)

## Stick Around

During the Con the Hearthstone space will be about more than just the tournament. Stop by between stages were we will remove the WiFi password so you can easily challenge nearby players, compete in a quick Tavern Brawl face off for a BattleNet Gift Card, craft decks with a friend or watch live streams of other Hearthstone tournaments around the world. One of these other tournaments is Stage 2 of Fireside Gathering Championship series. Five local players have qualified and some of the matches will be streamed.
Thank you all for your desire to compete, for competing fair and for your support of the conference and of our team. Direct all questions to me via email or facebook. See you at the Cup

yeah. there was a last minute venue change due to some rules Blizzard is imposing. worst case scenario its not too cold, we migrate out onto the patio still in range of the wifi. and just finish up outside. we will still be able to finish for sure. and if we HAVE to all go back to my place im only a mile away :-) i know the bar across the street wanted to have us but a bar isnt exactly "public"
