Hello, all. I am a software developer who has always wanted to be a hardware hacker. My eldest son, Xander, is more mechanically inclined than I and is obsessed with 3D printing, so I have read your related posts with interest.
One of my freelance customers, author Neil Gaiman, has asked me to come up with a way for him to monitor his bee hives remotely before next winter. I need to start researching what to measure (temperature, humidity, possibly weight?), what to do use as a hardware platform (Arduino? Raspberry Pi?), how best to power it, and how best to connect it wirelessly.
