Great to see this released --- and the team isn't finished yet with more useful libraries and guidelines for Android developers on the way.

#Android 8.1 Preview is here. This release adds polish to a few key APIs in #AndroidOreo 8.0, while expanding the capabilities of the platform with the introduction of the Neural Networks API. Another of my favorite additions is the SharedMemory API, which can make building multi-process applications much more efficient.
We’re giving you an early look at Android 8.1 starting today. This Android Oreo update includes a new Neural Networks API to accelerate on-device machine learning, Android Go memory optimizations, Autofill enhancements, and a Shared Memory API. We’ve also included a few smaller enhancements to Oreo in response to user and developer feedback. Get your apps ready - we’re expecting the final public version in December.

Hi everyone! In what is becoming an increasingly rare event, I'm once again in a show. Actually, I'm in TWO SHOWS, appearing in BOTH Trial By Jury (in the role of the Defendant) and Gianni Schicchi (in the role of Gherardo). Both are sung in English, with supertitles, set in modern-day (as much as possible), and are very funny shows. Despite the fact that I am in both shows, let me assure you that the casts are great, the orchestra is large and top-notch, and the production is being lovingly crafted. The show will run from June 17-25th, at the Montgomery Theater in San Jose, and there is a $5 discount for top-tier tickets using the code 'LAWYER.' Even if you have no plans to go see the production, I encourage you to +1 this post to get the word out.

Thought I'd mention that I caught an amazing opera, Don Carlo, up at SF Opera on Friday night. If you've never seen it, it's one of Verdi's masterpieces --- perhaps his grandest opera. It's 4 1/2 hours long but it was so masterfully sung and acted, that I scarcely noticed the time fly by.
SF Opera hasn't performed the work since 2003, and that was the French (original) version --- the Italian version, which was the last version to get Verdi's stamp of approval hasn't been seen since 1998. You don't want to have to wait another 13 years to catch this. One of the most incredible Tenor-Baritone duets ever written, an amazingly deep and soulful Bass role, even if he is still in-many-ways the villain, and lilting Soprano melodies. With 80 members in the terrific chorus this production is huge --- using almost every extra chorus/regular chorus member SF has on the roster. The costumes and wigs are beautiful, and many of the characters feel they could have walked out of a 16th century painting. The staging is minimalist, but it serves to shine a light on the brilliant costume work. There's only one more performance on Wednesday the 29th of June. Highly recommended.
