The battlestars (and the Cylon Base Stars) are combination battleships and carriers. They can (and do) slug it out toe-to-toe, but their primary weapon and defence is their complement of single-person fighters, and they mostly engage at a distance.

They're not in the list because they don't fit into any of those boxes. We don't have any comparable vessels in our navies - carrier battle groups are not intended to fight up close at all.

I would be very tempted if I could actually get this as an ink-on-paper item.
I'm not able to figure out where, exactly, this sumi-e ink-wash-style painting of the Alien originates, but it's something else. The garbled machine translation of this Chinese article seems like a promising lead, but I c...

"If Australians wonder why Internet and many other services are more expensive in their country than anywhere else in the world they need only look to Telstra."
Over the last few months, there's been increased attention on networks and how they interconnect. CloudFlare runs a large network that interconnects with many others around the world. From our vantage point, we have incredible visibility into global network operations. Given our unique situation ...

The ALP did say that. It wasn't the only reason, but it was one of the stated objectives: to remove Telstra's position as effective monopoly wholesaler.

[Editor Note: At the risk of spoiling the joke a bit, we want to make sure that everyone knows that the following is satire, and we're actually quite fond of the companies we mention. Docker, CoreOS, Google, Vagrant/Hashicorp, Heroku, Aphyr, Amazon, Mongo, Redis—we love you really and mean you ...

My Google Cardboard experience. About thirty seconds of "this is neat" followed by an hour of feeling sick. VR sickness on the cheap.
