Looking forward to the Rush concert tomorrow night. While they have a lot of inspirational songs, "Mission" really strikes a chord with me. Please excuse the pun.
One of the last Rush concerts I went to was Hold Your Fire, which was in surround sound, and my seat was on the floor right next to the mixing and lighting consoles, which, of course, means it sounded awesome! I don't think I have ever been to another concert in surround sound - not that most really need it.
Music: Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson Lyrics: Neil Peart. Hold your fire — Keep it burning bright. Hold the flame 'Til the dream ignites — A spirit with a vision. Is a dream with a mission. I hear their passionate music. Read the words. That touch my heart. I gaze at their feverish pictures ...

Interestingly, +Shotcut could play these HDR UHD files on my OS X machine (choppily) but not VLC, Quicktime, or surprisingly ffplay (might require option to prevent frame-dropping). No, MLT/Shotcut does not yet support BT.2020 colorspace or even a full 10-bit path, but we'll get there.
DETAILS. calendar Published : 10 June 2015. First demo HDR (High Dynamic Range) on the site ! Demo Ultra-HD HDR Life Of Pi (by Samsung). (note : don't look screenshot at top, I can't capture in HDR mode with my PC so colors are not good) 4:2:0 ; BT.2020 ! HDR ! So your TV has to be able to play ...

So strange, the company that made all this possible being bankrupt.

I think you are running out of memory for a 32-bit program. It does not matter that you have 32 GB RAM because a 32-bit Windows program is normally limited to 2 GB. We are working on a 64-bit Windows version, but it is not yet ready. In Windows Task Manager, when the memory usage approaches 1500 MB, I tend to see it fail. Why not closer to 2048? I am not sure, but I think it is due to fragmentation - memory space can be fragmented similar to a disk drive. To check if my claim is correct, please view Task Manager after every time you add a clip or split a clip. Also, to compare memory usage, test editing with an SD clip. Here is a link to one you can download: https://archive.org/details/Doom2_SS_NM_3159

To reduce some of the lagginess on long clips, try turning off the audio thumbnails in the timeline panel's menu.

Geez, the main upstream repo, EPEL, rpmfusion, rpmforge (now repoforge) - sometimes I feel like, please put Red Hat, CentOS, and Fedora out of their misery! Or, perhaps +Lennart Poettering's plan [1] can come to the rescue.

Just came across this freelance request to build Shotcut for Windows with a different theme color and logo. I hope they change the name and the help menu links to shotcut.org in the process. But why? Probably going to monetize it in some awful manner.
But yeah, good luck with that. It is not easy even though some directions are available on the website. I wonder how soon I will get an e-mail or forum message asking for help to build it. Yeah right.

The hijacking of Free & Open-Source software under the Windows world has been a problem for as long as I can remember, with people "bootlegging" Blender and Audacity on eBay and the developers getting flak from people having been fleeced, for example. This is part of why I'm always hesitant to consider releasing FLOSS for Windows at all (besides the fact that you're encouraging people to stay on a proprietary platform).

Crashes happen to even the best of us. At least +Shotcut auto-saves every 10 seconds.

We found the autosave. :)

+Dan Dennedy That explains a lot of things :) I've been playing the classical guitar for about 2 or 3 years now, but I've not been able to practice a lot these days because of school, sports, open source projects, etc. It's a good thing to be able to practice a lot (I can totally see that she is), as that's the only way to improve playing an instrument.

I just have to laugh when I read a 48-line, 3-namespaces pom.xml that simply does what "install" does in a single line.
This install program copies files (often just compiled) into destination locations you choose. If you want to download and install a ready-to-use package ...

Linus' comments echo some of my complaints about desktop Linux and why I deliver +Shotcut for Linux the way that I do.

He makes a great argument about why you might not want to use the "or later" clause in GPL software. You could end up with a situation where a newer version of GPL comes out that you don't agree with - but people could modify your code and release it under the newer version and then you can't put those changes back into your code.

Generous portions, friendly service, and fresh produce in salads. We went at sunset, which I highly recommend. We had the shrimp Louie salad and fish tacos as seen in the pictures of them that we uploaded.
