The new +YouTube layout on Android TV is awful. Before, videos were horizontal - from newest to oldest. Now, for some strange reason, they're laid out vertically, leaving two-thirds of the screen empty.

Not a TV, but a Nexus Player. I'd never buy a TV on the basis it has Android TV. The platform is pathetic with very few apps.

Only took 11 months to include a feature that should've been available from day one. Getting better, Google.

The first episode of Silicon Valley is free on Google Play at the moment. It's a cracking comedy show and especially funny if you're a geek.

(Probably a UK-only freebie).
From HBO and the offbeat mind of Mike Judge ('Office Space,' 'Beavis & Butthead') comes this comedy series that delves into the outrageous world of tech start-ups and the socially awkward underdogs trying to navigate its lucrative potential.
Rating: MA15+

Baffled as to why +YouTube Gaming has no support for Android TV. You'd think the two would go hand in hand, wouldn't you?
YouTube Gaming keeps you connected to the games, players, and culture that ...

Think it's fair to say that 2015 has been the year of compromises for Android flagship devices. There's been no bad phones as such, just none I'd stick in the 'must-buy' category.

New MKBHD video!

Here's the thing about the "perfect" smartphone...

Hooray! Non-essential Flash content will soon be made click-to-play in Chrome.
Video players will still work, but non-essential Flash content, like ads, will be blocked.

Aha, you're right. It's a setting that gets synched though, and I set it once on one of my machines, I think, now you mention it.

This is a really good contribution to the ethical-food debate from George Monbiot.

I don't think anyone - including vegetarians, vegans etc. - can be against the idea of someone eating an animal that's died of natural or accidental causes. It's sustainable, cruelty-free, environmentally sound and respectful of nature.
If grey squirrels killed every year in the UK were sold for meat, it would be no bad thing. Factory farming is more harmful to the environment

Social critic and guerilla street artist Banksy has created a depressing pop-up exhibition called Dismaland. Part of it includes commentary on how we treat animals.

Wrote something about watches and Waze, and stuff.
Why smartwatches, Google Now, Maps and Waze are a major distraction while driving and how they could be fixed

Anyone know if it's possible to remove erroneous roadworks on Google Maps? I keep getting distracted with alerts on my watch while driving, which wouldn't be so bad if the info wasn't three months out of date.

I'm guessing this info comes from Waze? If installing Waze is the only way to remove stuff from Maps, well...

EDIT: Just used Waze and yup, the info is being pulled from there. Problem is, I can't remove it as a new user because I need to actually drive along the troublesome route with Waze running and then wait 24 hours before I'm given permission. What a joke.

Clever. And annoying.

People used to do something similar on the radio. They'd lie about traffic on their route so others would avoid it, making their commute much easier.
