Unsurprisingly, a film that was made against the copyright clock - the franchise would've gone elsewhere had it not appeared this year - isn't very good.
‘Old, but not obsolete,’ insists Schwarzenegger in a return to his most famous role. The truth, heartbreakingly, is quite the contrary

I think none of us want to meet a crocodile or an alligator, but every life is conciousness and has a purpose. Nothing deserves to be tortured and abused, especially in the name of profit and vanity.
Thousands of crocodiles and alligators are crammed into concrete pits and filthy pools—all killed for their skin before even reaching adulthood.

Incredible performance by Jon Hopkins at Glastonbury last night. Would LOVE to know what the killer track is at the 54-minute mark.
London-based electronic musician Jon Hopkins is best known for his 2013 album Immunity - a runaway success of a record that took him all the way to a sold-out gig at Brixton Academy in April, 2015 - but he’s got a CV as long as he is tall. Immunity was his fourth solo album and second Mercury Prize nomination (he was first given the nod for Diamond Mine, a 2011 album he released with Scottish singer-songwriter King Creosote), and he’s a celebrate...

It's ace. He produced most of their recent album, besides the dire Avicii 'Sky Full of Stars' song of course.

Thumb-sized chips that are able simulate different organs in the body could spell the end of animal testing.

"The organs-on-chips allow us to see biological mechanisms and behaviours that no one knew existed before," says Don Ingber, founding director of the Wyss Institute.

"We now have a window on the molecular-scale activities going on in human organs, including things that happen in human cells that don’t occur in animals. Most drug companies get completely different results in dogs, cats, mice and humans, but now they will be able to test the specific effects of drugs with greater accuracy and speed.”

Hooray for science!

Wyss Institue's chips will also be used by the pharmaceutical arm of Johnson & Johnson in early testing of cancer and other drugs: http://goo.gl/dBWPjP
They may look like humble little blocks, but these miracle devices could end animal testing, revolutionise the development of new drugs – and lead us into a world of entirely personalised medicine

Bioengineering startup Pembient aims to reduce demand for black-market rhino products by producing artificial horns. Some are sceptical, but I think it's an interesting idea and worth a try.
A biotech firm has managed to 3D print fake rhino horns as part of a bid to curb poaching.

+Grant Wilson Back to the drawing board then. Or perhaps an easier solution would be to just drop the printers from a great height and on to the poachers' heads?

Has it been so long since we've had decent weather that most of us have forgotten what a heatwave is?

Anyone got a flux capacitor-rigged DeLorean that I could borrow?
Yes, Britpop hit the headlines, but that was only part of the story. In 1995 dance music came of age, and a wave of hedonism hit the fields and clubs of Britain. Here some of the major musicians and DJs involved share their memories of an explosive year

CNN failed to spot a parody IS flag at London Pride today. And just in case you can't work out what's on it: http://imgur.com/Q9Aeo8u.

Add this article to your Pocket list because one, it's long, and two, the article is only free-to-view for another day or so.

I'm fairly certain this is just a disconnect between Google and its security staff. At least I hope it is. Curious to see if more stuff emerges from this story, though.
In Los Angeles, Google has a brilliantly simple plan to combat homelessness: Hire private security to harass and push the homeless out sight, and then make sure that the smelly bastards and their tents and carts never come back.

"And if you look to your left, you'll see our driver throttling a woman by what locals lovingly call 'Boris Bikes'..."
A London tour bus driver is filmed apparently throttling a passerby after witnesses say the victim filmed her running a red light in Waterloo
