A Long View on Microsoft Surface

Interesting post at an always interesting blog, Asymco: http://bit.ly/KZygD1

The first chart is intriguing. It would be interesting to see how major legacy enterprise systems, like mainframes, map out on the chart. Some of these corporate systems become so core they never really die, but are simply eclipsed by ascendent technologies that enable more productive workflows and experiences. That's the destination of the PC, as we know it, in the multi-screen connected computing future that's just beginning to unfold.

LOL, I love Asymco's term "corporate antibodies." Thanks, +Horace Dediu. Brilliant!

Digital Brand Innovation
Introduction
I am a Seattle-based product development and marketing professional with a passion for digital media, particularly newly-emerging technologies.

My expertise includes developing innovative products and platforms for marketers, creating compelling cross-media experiences for consumers and commercializing early-stage technologies. I have worked in emerging media product development at Microsoft's Advertiser & Publisher Solutions and R&D units, and led product management through the 2010 re-launch of social analytics startup Visible Technologies' platform, Visible Intelligence (helping Visible claim the top Forrester ranking for "social listening"). I have also been a leader in digital marketing and traditional branding as co-founder of the interactive unit at Ogilvy/Cole & Weber, Seattle, plus early career grounding in good old fashioned CPG media planning at DMB&B, NY. I earned my MBA at the University of Washington where I concentrated on commercialization of early-stage technologies and corporate and venture finance.

I am currently researching and developing a thesis and managerial framework I call Digital Brand Innovation. The research is focused on how companies can leverage embryonic and emerging technologies and the latent power of their brand franchises to meet the digital innovation imperative presented by dramatic technological, social and economic change.

I am also operating an independent consulting practice, Kickstart Digital, that helps Fortune Global 1000 companies more proactively, systematically and strategically embrace new digital technologies, better embrace the digital startup and innovation ecosystem and make Digital R&D a core competency. Kickstart Digital also helps early-stage technology developers in university labs, startups and technology companies gain insight and access into the complex, rapidly evolving brand marketing ecosystem.

I am interested in just about every digital technology under the sun--mobile, social, gaming, iTV and cloud-based big data to name a few--with a particular focus on embryonic Pervasive Computing technologies. I am especially fascinated with the ways these technologies come together to revolutionize everyday life, the nature of brand experience and how businesses innovate and compete in the digital age.

Looking forward to trading ideas, perspectives and news with everyone on Google+.

Kickstart Digital is a digital R&D practice that helps Fortune 1000 brand marketers and media producers exploit the two most powerful forces

Sit at the bar, enjoy friendly banter and watch a fantastic slicing and dicing show! The omakase is great, especially for sashimi. All the sushi is wonderful, excellent fresh fish very well prepared. Lots of wonderful small plates, as authentic as it gets. I get the deep fried mochi (agemochi) every time. Newly redesigned interior is a nice enhancement. It's a very casual, lively atmosphere which can get a crowded at peak times--perfect for enjoying another tall Sapporo and plenty of laughs with friends. Or for a lunchtime treat with co-workers, clients or anyone else you can use as an excuse to expense an awesome meal!

Kisaku is one of Seattle's best sushi places, hands-down. Nakano-san, the owner, takes center stage and serves up amazing sushi bites, wonderful omakase and warm friendly service. His team is great, very timely and friendly with the service--but no rushing the customer. Great neighborhood feeling to the place overall. Make sure to expand your horizons with some of the many small plates that serve as a great warm-up to your dive into the sushi. I order uni and negi-toro every time to polish off the perfect sushi buzz.
