Need a battery pack to charge your camera or smaller accessories like GoPro or GPS?

Check out the Venture 30 from +Goal Zero

I bought this the other day and think it's going to be very useful!

Hands on + video review of the Goal Zero Venture 30 rugged and water resistant battery pack. Great for charging GoPros, cameras phones and iPads.

+Dan Carr thanks for the review. I've been using the Solpro Helios. it offers a full solar charge or micro USB charge in 4hrs and is weather proof.

He always seemed like such a nice guy, just doing what he loves.

RIP Justin WIlson :(
As a motorsport fan, and sometime motorsport photographer, it's a sad day when someone gets killed doing what they love. Today is one of those days as we hear the news that British IndyCar driver, Justin Wilson, has succumbed to the head injuries he sustained yesterday at the Pocono Raceway...

Public service announcement :D
My annual reminder for you guys to backup your photos is usually triggered by one of my own drives failing. This time it was my SSD that failed...again....

So I've been playing (predictably) with the slow motion functions on my new Sony RX100 IV. This is 240fps from the Crankworx Whip Off the other day. The best part of the HFR settings is that you can rear trigger, meaning that you can press record AFTER something has happened, and because it has been buffering the shot, you can record the thing that just happened. This is something that you find on all professional high speed cameras (Phantom etc.), but to have this in a point and shoot camera that I barely know is in my jacket pocket...awesome.

For Day #7 of my #StayOutThere  challenge with +Adobe , we're taking a look at a cool technique that uses Photoshop!  Sequences are a great way to tell complex stories with a single image.  Check it out -->> http://dancarrphotography.com/blog/2015/08/02/photoshop-sequences/
A Photoshop sequence is a technique that involves taking a number of photos in quick succession, then layering them on top of each other to show movement.

This is a useful tip! I had no idea it was this easy.
Have you ever needed to combine two PDFs together? Or add a single page to an existing PDF? Maybe change PDF page order? If you use a Mac, it's dead simple.

Ooh new Canon 35mm L lens!. Do want :D
Canon has just launched a MK II version of their 35mm f/1.4 L lens, and it should be a beauty. Speculation about a second version of this lens has been around for over 5 years I think, ever since the 24mm f/1.4 L II was launched. My guess is that Canon weren't in such a hurry with the 35mm because the original one was much better received than the first version of the 24mm was.

Brain dump....
Having recently spent a month away from my home and office, I thought I’d write down a few notes about photography “on the road”. That kind of time away from usual surroundings is a surefire way to reveal weaknesses in workflow and gear, and a few things stood out to me so I thought I’d share them.

Camera bag essential in my opinion.  What do you think?  I certainly don't use it as often as I used to, since cameras have gotten better at cleaning themselves, but I still find it useful!
A quick look what I would consider an absolute must-have item for any photographer. This is the smaller, lighter "mini" version of the Giottos Rocket Blower
