Definitely my favourite WordPress plugin for photographers...

Many photogs spend so much time updating their Instagram feeds with images that will sink to the bottom of the social pile in a matter of hours, but somehow manage to neglect the portfolio galleries on their website for many years.

This plugin lets you create beautiful galleries that constantly pull your images automatically from Instagram, so your site will never go stagnant again!
Instagram is one of my favourite ways to share my work, and on my website I have a page where you can view my latest Instagram posts. A few people have asked me how I created this Instagram gallery, so I wanted to address it here in the Readers Questions section of the blog. Firstly, this site runs on WordPress so for this particular solution, I’m afraid you’re out of luck if your site doesn’t use the same platform. One of the most powerful thing...

Alright folks, here's a blog post with some more information about the panorama I posted earlier this week. When I was taking this shot, I broke one of the big "rules" that people will often tell you not to do... can you guess what it was? Discussion in the blog post... Share if you find it useful :D

In this example we're looking at a 9-shot panoramic photo that was created at an alpine lake in British Columbia. Read on to find out which of the big "rules" I broke when I was shooting this...

New shot on the blog! Here's how I made it.
Moraine Lake is one of the most photographed lakes in the world, but this was actually my first time visiting it when I took this shot. Despite the remote looking landscape, there’s easy vehicle access in the summer months, and that means that it’s teeming with people during the day. There are nice shots to …

Long exposures using ND filters are a great way to make more dynamic looking landscape images. Whilst there are many great apps for calculating the long exposure times with specific ND filters, I recently found myself in temperatures so cold that a mobile device would not work. This reminded me that a simple printed long exposure table is a great resource to keep in your camera bag. I went looking for a good one to print from the internet, but since one didn't exist that met my standards, I decided to make one and share it with you guys.

Well... one thing lead to another and I also decided I can't just share the raw numbers with you, I might as well take the opportunity to add to the growing list of resources on Shutter Muse, and explain how you get these numbers as well. Personally I find it interesting to know a bit of the "back story" to all the photographic physics.
Learn how to calculate the exposure time for long exposure photography when using a neutral density filter. Post includes long exposure + free PDF.

Checking out the Hero5 on the blog today!
GoPro recently launched the new Hero5 Black and Hero5 Session, alongside an impressive looking drone called the Karma. I often take a GoPro on photography trips because I like to use them to capture some behind the scenes content, like this aerial timelapse that I posted earlier in the year. Up until now, I’ve been using …

Is bigger better?
Continuing my coverage of the Canon 5D Mark IV, today we’re taking a first look at the BG-E20 battery grip for this exciting new camera. A battery grip serves two main purposes: firstly it allows you to use two batteries simultaneously, thus prolonging the period between needing to actually swap batteries, and secondly it mimics …

I thought it would be fun to look at all the stuff from my camera bag that's not a camera or a lens. This is all the "other stuff" that's always in my pack.
EDC or Everyday Carry is the stuff that's always on me. Cameras and lenses are specific to the task at hand, but amongst those items, this is the kit that's always in my bag or pocket.

Just picked this up! Love at first site.
It’s always an exciting day when a big brown box arrives, especially when it says Canon on the side. This year, due to economical situations in Canada (where I live) and Japan, Canon raised their prices on all their lenses and cameras. Whilst this is always a bit of a blow, they were at least …

Made a few updates to this blog post to add some new items and remove one that is no longer available. Thankfully, I found something better anyway!

For a travel adapter that does it all, I recommend this:
http://www.amazon.com/Twist-Universal-Ultra-portable-Worldwide-charging/dp/B010Q6GSR6
It has a total of 4 USB outlets, plus the ability to add a Macbook charger or larger iPad charger. It's all I need, plus the cables.

I booked a week in advance and they called an hour before my appointment to cancel because they were too busy with other dogs. I had scheduled much of my week's work around this so that I could be available to drop my dog off in the middle of the day. Whilst they were apologetic, they made no attempt to remedy the situation other than to suggest that I book another slot the following week. If I were them I would have moved heaven and earth to put this right, especially for a first time customer.
