Facebook tests system to charge $1 for some messages

Facebook said Thursday it has begun testing a system for users to send messages to people outside their circle of contacts for $1.

In a statement posted online, Facebook cited research showing that "imposing a financial cost on the sender may be the most effective way to discourage unwanted messages and facilitate delivery of messages that are relevant and useful."

They claim this will "reduce spam"...
Interesting... so companies will pay then to have their messages delivered to a recipient's 'inbox.'
Not only do they now spam my feed with promoted posts and suggested pages... they are about to violate my inbox. How rude.
According to the article, only individuals can use this feature; brands cannot send out bulk emails.  FB is already testing this out with a small group of people.  Good thing we now have a shortcut to our privacy settings!
