I have read a few articles talking about various Stargate reboots. The film seems to be dead now. The general consensus and I actually agree, is the original formula of the TV show wouldn't be that popular today.

I think if they ever rebooted the show they would need to not concentrate on a single team. A central problem with the show was the fact that it made to seem NOBODY else did anything of import. I think of it as a "StarTrek" style plot device. There, apparently, nothing was accomplished by anybody other than bridge crew. At least on ST:TNG there was enough side stories that highlighted other crew members.

A rebooted series would need to be more Stargate Command and a little less SG-1.

After looking through the Starjammer Rulebook, I think it has more to offer for converting Spelljammer that Starfinder will. I plan to use both products in other settings, though, lol.

That said, I was wondering if there would be any interest in "Crowd Sourcing" a Spelljammer-Esque setting? Kinda like Open Source approach to a setting. I just think that rather than waiting for a product that is likely never to exist, maybe the community could pull together to create such a campaign. We could pick a baseline, like start with Starjammer, and then find things to mirror stuff we want from Spelljammer (Say convert Freeport to an asteroid city to be the Rock of Bral stand-in). Basically, find existing material to adapt to an exciting crowd created 'knock-off' product. Not to really sell, but to make the setting we would love to see.

Neat idea for a booby trap.
