Andrea Foertsch on space and real estate at How to Make a makerspace workshop. Makerspaces are not traditional incubators, they are more flexible and multidisciplinary.

If you can't unlock it, you don't own it.

If you want to break US law on Sunday, just unlock your cellphone.

Only applies to someone who buys a phone breaks the contract and unlocks the phone on another network. At least that's what an attorney told me about this.

Finished "Bring Up the Bodies" by Hilary Mantel, a historical novel based on the life of Thomas Cromwell during the reign of King Henry VIII and his second marriage to Anne Boleyn.   It's even better than "Wolf Hall", the first book in the series.   This is not one of those padded costume dramas.   It's taut and extremely forceful.  Mantel enters the mind of Cromwell, a man of independent action and court intrigue, and she creates a compelling story that is paced like a thriller but is introspective like a modernist novel.

Introduction
Dale Dougherty is a DIY enthusiast, innovator and thought leader who is exploring the intersection of creative and technical industries.  He is founding editor and publisher of MAKE magazine and the creator of the Maker Faire at O'Reilly Media.   He joined Tim O'Reilly when O'Reilly & Associates was a technical writing company and became the first editor of O'Reilly's computer book publishing, also writing Sed & Awk.  In 1993, he launched GNN, the first commercial web site and portal, which was sold to AOL in 1995.  He founded Songline Studios, which developed a number of web-based projects.   Dougherty popularized the term "Web 2.0" in the course of developing the Web 2.0 conference.   Make Magazine was launched in 2005 and Maker Faire started in the SF Bay Area in 2006. Together, Make and Maker Faire have been the catalyst for a maker movement, which invites everyone to become makers, creators and producers.  Now, Dougherty is focused on how the maker movement can transform education, providing more opportunities for young people to become makers.  He is Chair of the non-profit Maker Education Initiative.
