Meanwhile, children continue to go hungry, but - as long as the dog is safe.

Heres a though, the people who cant afford to feed children should not have them. It is not a nations responceability to feed your kids .

And thats the problem nowadays, people who cant afford to feed themselves, let alone themselves plus one, are having children and then expect a hand out to help raise them . How is that being responceable ?

Glad to know there is someone out there with a soft spot for ALL life. WELL DONE :-)

I'm all for kindness. I'm not against the premise of the story at all, but, I just think that spending exorbitant amounts of money on rescuing animals, whilst humans go hungry is wrong.
Oh, and it's responsibility.

Perhaps feeling good about herself doing this will encourage her to spend more of her time doing good things and helping others so ultimately starving kids will benefit, we don't know, but it's certainly better than doing nothing.

People, if they are in difficult position, are in it because of their own ignorance, will, or plain stupidity. Sometimes, in starving kids situation like some of you mention, these kids are put in that position by no one  else but other people, and not just any people, their own parents. So if their mother couldn't keep her legs together, they as a society of tomorrow should take a stand, and not breed mindlessly like rabbits generation after generation. And at least people have a voice and rights, so they can stand up for them selfs and maybe make a change. Animals on the other hand don't have these privileges. Therefore hats of for these people and all the others who help animals in need!

Wow. Literally - wow.

That is SOME logic that's being applied there.  Humans breeding like rabbits is being condemned, but rabbits breeding like rabbits - that's ok.

Wow.

Seriously?

Seriously yes. Rabbits arent polluting and overpopulating the planet. And they are part of an animal food chain which is naturally sustained.  (Biology, primary school level!) Humans, however, well 7 billion on the planet, and which areas are the biggest density of poverty?... Google if not know...

No thanks, you're fine. You're right - we should plough money in to saving animals while humans suffer.  Can't believe I didn't see things from your perspective in the first place. It makes so much sense.

I wish I could +1 something twice.

Proves my point...

Me wanting to +1 twice proves your point about taking care of animals over humans?

And the last comment proves my point about people being plain stupid.... Oh well, I always assume that people are creatures with a certain level of intelligence, however I've been wrong on many occasions.

Trust me - my sarcasm was by no means stupid. I was using it to highlight comments you'd made, that I believed to be ill thought through and without a rational premise.

I know it's controversial and I'm going out on a limb here, but - I'd rather save the human race above animals.

I know there are already LOADS of us on this planet, but still - I think it's best if we're here, above rabbits and dogs.

When a horse invents a social network - come back to me and we'll have a sensible chat.

I think I prefer quality over quantity. And if invention of a social network is the hight of achievement, than I'm sorry but I have to point out that there is a life outside the box. And as far as I remember when there was no social networking people were actually interacting with each other, made time for family, friends, study, work and play and they were enjoying life. Now most people are tied to their phones and computers not knowing what's actually is happening around them. Maybe if people stop complicating their lives they would be happier and more valued. Till that time comes ...

I think it is important to show compassion to animals as well as humans. No creature should suffer and be neglected like this dog, it's vile. If this lady want to help animals good on her.
While I don't agree wholly with Ola, there is a lot more support for humans and they have a voice and can ask for help or say how they feel. This dog, who was probably a loyal companion to its previous owner was left outside to starve to death and with another dog. That is not OK, as well as people having not enough money to have a child they then get pets they can't afford and then abandon them like they are worthless.

Wow! I'm The Only One Has Got No Red Number. I Wonder Why?
