Introduction
After growing up in Arendal, Norway I was a student at NTNU in Trondheim, Norway (1991-1996). After my military service in the navy during 1997, I moved to Oslo, Norway for part-time database studies while working for IBM with mainframe computer networks. In 1999 I moved to Malmö in Sweden to work at the Nordic Gene Bank in Alnarp (1999-2011). NGB was reorganized as the Nordic Genetic Resources Center in 2008. I spent one year in Rome, Italy 2005/2006 working for the International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (now Bioversity International). Return back to Sweden and Lund starting a PhD project at Copenhagen University, Faculty for Life Sciences, Institute for Agriculture and Ecology, Crop Science section. The PhD thesis is available online at http://goo.gl/pYa9x (PDF, 38 MByte), ISBN: 978-91-628-8268-6. In 2011 I joined the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF, http://www.gbif.org) as Knowledge System Engineer. In the autumn of 2012 I became the GBIF Node Manager for Norway and relocated to Oslo.
