For many years, Lauren Benzo has grown a passion for the culture of hip-hop, which is greatly expressed in her work. Yet, there is something that is special about her articles. She not only writes about what is happening to the people in the culture of hip-hop, but she makes sure that the content that she puts out draws the attention of the reader.
Well, who is this person named Lauren “Ms.Benzo” Benzo, who is known as the “#NOWTHATSHIPHOP Originator” and “The Hip-Hop Carrie Bradshaw”?
Lauren Benzo started promotions for her own personal brand, leading to more opportunities to partner with other companies. She is well connected in the entertainment industry, making it easy for her to book acts without going through a booking agency.
Lauren has progressed from promotions, not only in her hometown of Erie, PA, but also cities close by, such as Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and even Canada. Her events consisted of concerts and walk-through’s from artists such as Sean Paul, Fall Out Boy, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, and accomplishing a sold-out concert with Miley Cyrus.
In 2009, Lauren was approached with an opportunity to do radio. When thinking about a radio show concept, she wanted to give “Indie” MCs and lyricists that she refers to on her show “The UnderGround OverGround”, an outlet. Not any outlet, but one that she didn’t have coming up as a young female emcee. Now we have “D.Y.M.E. Life Radio”.
Lauren soon became a freelance journalist for entertainment websites and magazines. She is also a judge for major battle leagues, including GrindTimeNow and she won a Nerve DJs “Female DJ of the Year” award in 2012.
She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Media Communications from Full Sail University and is currently working on her Masters degree in New Media Journalism at Full Sail University.
