Surprises happen when you get out of your car and walk a street. Pick any street in a mature neighborhood in Denver. I choose South High Street on the east side of the Washington Park. From the car, as you drive 10 blocks from Louisiana Avenue to Alameda Avenue the tree appears to be lined by tall mature trees but in actuality the tree landscape is in transition. About 25 percent of the 270 trees counted have been planted over the last 10-20 years. There are tens of dozens newly planted saplings as well. The most popular tree is the silver maple at 57. Followed by the honey locust and ash at 23 each. There were 3 enormous trees - 2 American Elms and 1 magnificent oak tree. The good news is High Street is set to have a beautiful tree landscape now as well decades later.

This video shows DLC Arbor trimming a large silver maple tree in east Washington Park neighborhood in Denver. DLC Arbor is famous for your clean-up. What is fun about this clip is it is a time lapsed and set to music. Let us know what you think.

The Emerald Ash Borer is an invasive tree insect species that landed in Michigan in 2002 from China. Its larvae eat the tissues under the bark of ash trees. In time, the larvae girdle the tree and it dies. Native U.S. ash trees have no immunity to the EAB. The EAB has spread across 21 states and killed tens of million ash trees. Unfortunately for Colorado,  the EAB landed in Boulder County last year. No action is required to save your ash trees until the EAB infestation is within 10-15 miles from your home. The best advice is to keep informed by visiting the Colorado State Extension Service website or call a licensed tree service company like DLC Arbor with a certified arborist on staff.

DLC Arbor is sponsoring East High Robotics. We donated the use of a DLC truck to get the robotic and all supporting equipment to the event. East High School is located in Central Denver school with 3000 students. East High Robotics is participating in the First Robotics Regional Competition at Magness Arena Denver University this week. FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. High school students from across the U.S. come here to compete for the change to go to the national tournament in St. Louis later this month. We are pleased to be able to help you. Go Angels.
