Rise of the Brewery Bots - Inside Fermentarium

Brewing beer can be an all day process. There's several systems out there with people trying to help us out. These are automated home brewery systems. The idea is simple. Make a device where we pour ingredients in, and come back to finished wort.

New episode of Inside Fermentarium

After a short hiatus (ok 6 years...) Inside Fermentarium is getting a reboot.  Brewing beer can be an all day process. There's several systems out there with people trying to help us out. These are automated home brewery systems. The idea is simple. Make a device where we pour ingredients in, and come back to finished wort.

Yep, there's a whole science to picking the right source in several fields. It pops up a lot in security and encryption too.

How to deploy Java applications using Apache Maven and Docker!

Here’s our goal for this tutorial. We will compile the Java code, and on a successful build, we’ll package it up into a jar, and create a Docker container containing our Java application. We’ll do all of this within Maven. The Maven script can be called from any continuous integration tool.

From there we can push the docker file to a Docker repository, or we can use it to spin up as many instances of the machine that we want. That’s the power of Docker. We define our container once, and we can run it as many times as we want.

Awesome comparison!

Apple's new 4-inch iPhone gets the teardown treatment from iFixit and Chipworks. There aren't many surprises, but it's still fun to ogle the phone's shiny innards.

How to drink beer without getting fat?

What's the special diet that lets us drink alcohol without getting fat? Paleo diet? Gluten free? No magic beans here or wishful thinking, just the straight answer.

Still looking to get a 6-pack and I'm practically next door!

A match made in yum!  It was very good.  Salt is not a prevalent flavor here.  The Caramel and chocolate come through in a big way.  Go get it before it's gone, then make the clone!!

We add cocoa and vanilla powder in the maturation vessel to retain all the delicate volatile aromas and flavors for a big dessert beer blast.

Introduction
I am a avid homebrewer and winemaker. I’ve been making my own beer and wine for many years. I started making beer when I was in college (mostly because the drinking age in the United States is 21). My first few beers were horrible. The beers are much better now, and I often supply my neighborhood with free beer! It is a great hobby!

I’ve been programming computers since I was 10. I first learned BASIC on a Sinclair computer and I’ve been programming ever since. I have a degree in Computer Science from Regis University, and a masters in Computer Science from the University of Colorado - Denver. I currently work as a software engineer consultant.

My current favorite video games are Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, and Oblivion - all for the X-Box 360.
