I don't know if I neeeeeeeeed one, but I'd take it for free.
Like the iPhone before it, everyone was talking about the Apple Watch long before it was announced by the company themselves. Shortly after going on sale, shipping dates for new orders slipped to June or later, as early adopters rushed to part with their cash — but is it worth it? I've spent a week playing with…

Could be interesting and solve some issues in the classroom when teachers don't have a whole class set. Have to see how easy it is to manage..

Something else that I just came across this morning... Inklewriter. http://www.inklestudios.com/inklewriter/for-teachers

It looks like it could be an interesting creative writing/cross curricular project - sort of a high tech "choose your own adventure story", but this helps the kids keep track of the story threads so none of them get abandoned. I'm currently trying to get the 6th grade lang/lit teacher interested in doing this with me next year as long-term project that my keyboarding students can work on to both practice their keyboarding skills and get some writing time in.

Ugh... I totally want these, you want me to "apply" and shell out $1500 to beta test something for you? And fly to LA, NYC or SF to pick them up. So.... not happening.

Some good points here - I know that we all talk about this all the time, so it's like preaching to the choir. It's always good to be reminded that we should be enabling teaching and not keeping tools away from teachers and students when they need them.

I can see that being a big part of the issue in public school, but I see the same reluctance to change in the private school sector and our job performance isn't tied to test scores. So, I have to think that there is still something else going on here.

But I do agree that testing is a HUGE problem - not just for the reasons that you stated, which I think does a big disservice to our kids, but also because it means that our teachers are often reduced to teaching students how to respond and write correctly for a test and not how to write well or critically think.

Help! We are trying to come up with a new way for kids in our service club to sign up for activities. Thus far, they have been signing up on paper sheets posted in the hall (dreadfully old school and inefficient). We would like to move to an online signup.

First thought was to make a Google doc - but we really don't want them to be able to delete someone else's name, even though we can find that out through the revision history because it's a mess. So... thinking about using Google forms or something like that. However, we want to be able to only accept sign-ups for the number of students that we need.

Is there a way to set the form to only accept a certain number of responses? Or does someone know of another (free or low cost) tool that will let us do the same thing? Thanks!
