I only learnt of this composer and piece yesterday, and fell in love with it. An expanded scoring of this octet was performed by the Australian Chamber Orchestra with Anthony Marwood as part of Marwood's Serenade. Lush and vivacious, four movements as one.

From a Seu Jorge gig, I learnt that..
- flutes could be miked* up. Never considered it.
- a flautist would lead Brazilian pop samba.
- beer (diuretic) can be rehydration of choice throughout a 2+ hour gig for a band and lead who sang, played and danced the hours through.
- * there are discussions on miked vs mic'd. (eg. https://www.audiolinks.com/blog/mike-vs-mic/ )

I use "mic" unless I say something has been "miked".

—and a sword. It was four feet long and glinted along the blade.

The mother took a deep breath.

“You can’t give her that!” she screamed. “It’s not safe!”

IT’S A SWORD, said the Hogfather. THEY’RE NOT MEANT TO BE SAFE.

“She’s a child!” shouted Crumley.

IT’S EDUCATIONAL.

“What if she cuts herself?”

THAT WILL BE AN IMPORTANT LESSON.

~ The Hogfather, Terry Pratchett. Happy Hogswatch!

A dad asks, "What happens when a 21st-century kid plays through video game history in chronological order? ...

Would that child better appreciate modern independent games that don’t have the budgets of AAA monstrosities...? Would they appreciate the retro aesthetic, or just think it looks crappy?"

So, from age 4...

The Thali (with the choice of 3 curries, a raita, a salad, dhal of your choice, a naan or roti and a gulab Jamman) is a personalised smorgasbord; fun, tasty, varied and definitely filing A great way to sample the diner's offerings.

This is for its yum cha lunch: Both the dim sims and service are a mixed batch; some lovely, some bland. The tables aren't overly close to each other so conversations could be had. The overall experience is a net positive.

A wide array of dishes to cater for the carnivore, the vegetarian and the spectrum in between. Both unique and common fare are on offer. Known for their lamb skewers, their "lamb scorpion" (spine) hot pot remain tasty and hot on the table for an hour. The jellyfish vegetable salad with vinegar dressing was appetising and palate cleansing. Prompt friendly service. Large flavoursome portions. Simple décor. Value that won't blow the budget. Perfect for catching up with languid friends for hands-on relaxed dining.

Fast, fresh, flavoursome. The lamb kharai is highly recommended, and happiness is to be found with every bite of Tandoori chicken (even with the breast meat for this Chinese diner!). Pragmatic, drab, clean decor. Great take-away, too.

At the nook beside its bustling gelato outlet for a creative experience; a few of the menu items weren't available although it was just post lunch. The Kalamansi was refreshing and delightful, whilst the Tangyu very much cup was attractive but sadly with bland hardened streusel. The view from the window side bar added to an otherwise average eat-in experience.

Attractive decor, but with tables so tightly packed patrons have to sidle into their seats. The dishes are mostly well made but pricey compared to similar quality restaurants. These "but" effects can be ignored if it weren't for their service aspect that solidified alienation after multiple visits. The final straw came when a price confirmed, pre-order for 18 pieces of take-away baklava had the total price jacked by a dollar per piece on pick-up. The proprietress' condescension on this pronouncement is palpable to this day. Not again.
