Here are some of the incidents Hamilton Police responded to over the weekend:

Over .80
On Saturday, January 11, 2014 at about 7:20 p.m., a motorist flagged down a police officer. The driver informed police that he was hit from behind while stopped at the traffic light at King St. W. and Caroline St.N. The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested without incident. He was transported to the police station for a breathalyzer test. The driver blew over the legal limit. The 39-year-old Hamilton man was released on a Promise to Appear with a charge of Over 80 mg.

Street Robbery
A 20-year-old man posted information on a social networking site to sell his cell phone. Two people made contact with him and arranged to meet him on January 12, 2014, in the area of Bond St. S. They arrived and inspected the phone but left without purchasing it. A short time later, 10:00 p.m., they called to say they would return to buy the cell phone. The suspect was given the phone and negotiated a lower price. At the same time, the suspect stated, ‘you’ve just been robbed’ and began to walk away. The victim tried to grab the suspect to retrieve his phone when the second suspect punched the complainant. Both suspects fled the scene. The complainant called police several hours later to report the incident. Hamilton Police are continuing this investigation. The suspects are described as:

Suspect One: male, 20 – 30 years old, dark skin, 6’4” tall, 230 – 240 lbs, short dark hair. He was wearing a black puffy winter jack, dark hoodie, jeans.

Suspect 2 – male, 20 – 30 years old, dark skin, 5’5”, athletic build. He had clean cut hair, some beard growth. He was wearing a black winter jacket, black hoodie, tan pants, light coloured boots, and white headphones.

Drug Charges
On January 13, 2014, at 1:00 a.m., Hamilton Police were in the area of Upper Gage Ave. and Stone Church Rd.E. and observed a vehicle sitting inside one of the bays at a car wash business. The officer noticed a male occupant sitting in the driver’s seat. Police approached the vehicle and smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver was arrested for possession of marijuana. Further investigation revealed that he was also in possession of a prohibited weapon (knife), scale, grinder, cell phones and cash. A 22-year-old Hamilton man faces drug possession, proceeds of crime and prohibited weapon charges.

Road Rage
On January 11, 2014 at about 3:00 a.m., a black 2001 Ford Taurus intentionally side swiped the victim’s vehicle in the area of Charlton Ave., near the Sherman Cut. The suspect vehicle proceeded westbound then caught up to the victim where again the suspect rear ended the victim’s vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled the scene and the victim waited for police response. The investigation continues.

Break and Enter
At approximately 7:30 p.m., on January 10, 2014, a victim was asleep in her residence on Kensington Ave.S. when she heard a loud bang and her home alarm was sounded. She saw a male in her bedroom and called out. He fled out of the house. Hamilton Police responded and found glass to the rear door was broken. Hamilton Police Division Two detectives are investigating.

Motor Vehicle Collision – Impaired
On January 12, 2014 just before 1:00 a.m., a vehicle was heading eastbound on Main St.E. at a high rate of speed. At Hilda St., the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a hydro pole. The vehicle then struck a parked car in a driveway and then struck a billboard sign. Several witnesses called police. Hamilton Police responded to the scene and the driver was arrested for impaired operation. She was transported to the police station for a breathalyzer test. The driver blew over the legal limit. The 22-year-old Hamilton woman was released on a Promise to Appear with a charge of Impaired and Over 80 mg.

Impaired and Over 80
On January 12, 2014 at 2:15 p.m., a citizen called Hamilton Police to report that a vehicle was seen in the intersection of Allandale and Hope. The vehicle was parked, running with the music at a high level and the male driver was passed out on the driver side of the front seat. Hamilton Police responded and were able to get the driver to open the door. The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested without incident. He was transported to the police station for a breathalyzer test. The driver blew over the legal limit. The 27-year-old Hamilton man was released on a Promise to Appear with a charge of Impaired and Over 80 mg.

Impaired and Over 80
On January 11, 2014 at noon, a 43-year-old Hamilton man drove his vehicle to an auto shop on Barton St.E. to have some work done. The garage staff smelled alcohol on the man and called police. Hamilton Police responded to the shop. The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested without incident. He was transported to the police station for a breathalyzer test. The driver blew over the legal limit. The 43-year-old Hamilton man was released on a Promise to Appear with a charge of Impaired and Over 80 mg.
