At Crossroads Animal Care Center we have always taken a strong approach on preventative medicine. One aspect of routine care that we find extremely important is the routine screening of your pet's major organs through lab work. The gradual onset of health problems in an apparently health pet often go unnoticed. There are many conditions, that if diagnosed early, can be completely reversed or controlled for extended periods of time.

Also is your pet a "Tick Magnet?"

We've got you covered with another amazing hospital promotion. For every 2 boxes of Frontline or Advantix that you purchase through us you will receive $20 off your total bill. YES this offer CAN be combined with manufacturer coupons!!!

This is the story of Tiny the Chihuahua.

Weighing in at just over 2 pounds, this ten-month-old Chihuahua has been braving multiple conditions on a road to becoming healthy.

His journey started here! Tiny came to our clinic with a hurt leg and upon examination our own Dr. Kent Olson diagnosed him with a broken leg with multiple fractures. Unfortunately the recommended road for Tiny contained multiple unforeseen costs and surgical procedures that are not typical for most ten month olds.

Distraught that their puppy would be unable to receive the proper surgical treatments, Tiny’s owners were faced with a dilemma. They had to choose between raising Tiny on their own with him potentially losing his leg or surrendering him to a rescue organization where all treatments, remedies, and follow-ups could be pursued. Deciding to do what they thought was best for Tiny, the owners released him into the SPCA’s custody.

May 27th, 2015 was a bittersweet day for Tiny, he was losing his family, the people who had nurtured and loved him; however, he was being given a new beginning. Tiny left our facility this morning (May 28th, 2015) to be transferred to Blue Ridge Animal Hospital who is coordinating with board certified surgeons at D.C. Vets, Incorporated.

Once Tiny has recovered from his current state he will be up for adoption. In the short amount of time that we were able to spend with Tiny our entire staff fell in love with his personality and demeanor. Some staff members have gone so far as to volunteer themselves to SPCA as fosters to Tiny while he searchers for his next forever home.

If you or anybody you know would be interested in helping Tiny on his journey to his new home please feel free to contact our office as we can assist in facilitating the adoption process. Currently SPCA is in the process of developing a Guardian Angel page for those who wish to support Tiny. (The organization will most likely have given him a different name than “Tiny”)

Thank you all for your continued support and keep Tiny in your thoughts as he transitions through this tough time.
