JSON-LD and Web Components for easier web development

For the past few months, a bunch of us (especially fellow conspirators  +Ewa Gasperowicz and +Mano Marks) have been figuring out how two very useful technologies, JSON-LD and Web Components, can work together to simplify front-end web development in a way that works nicely with existing backends. Yes it's that cool and promising.

It's all in this blog post, which has links to more detailed docs and code examples:

http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2015/03/easier-website-development-with-web.html

And if you've never heard of Web Components or need to brush up on this nascent technology (and if you work on anything web related, this is a friendly heads-up about the future of web development ;) ), start with this Google I/O 2013 talk:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqULJBBEVQE

Now, fellow geeks, let's, um, geek out together.

High-resolution images taken from orbit identify the landing location of the lost Beagle2 probe, and it appears to be in one piece.

It was believed that Beagle missed reaching Mars and got lost in space, it turns out that it landed correctly, but for some reasons could not function. It seemed then that the most challenging part was landing on Mars, and it did it!

A little bird, a robin, in a tree by the side of the road in the late afternoon sun, a sign of spring.

You did better than me then - I spent some time yesterday trying to get a pic of a few birds but just ended up with lots of twigs and posts! At least flowers stay put.

Googlebot supports TLS 1.2 !

Googlebot now supports TLS version 1.2, in addition to previous versions: TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1 and SSLv3.

Reminder: old OpenSSL versions are vulnerable; we strongly recommend that you use the latest and newest versions of TLS libraries

Beagle 2 was supposed to have touched down on Mars on Christmas Day 2003 looking for signs of alien life, but it vanished

Story
Introduction
I am trying to apply mathematical modeling to SEO (search engine optimization), the art of building websites so they are easy to be found in search results. Search engine algorithms are not that easy to understand, because they have the difficult goal of mapping the huge world wide web to ten snippets in search results that best match what we are looking for. It is fascinating that the best way to be understood by search engines is to build a web page with accessibility guidelines in mind, thinking of how to best present a page to someone with vision or hearing difficulties.
