Let's make #SOPA and #PIPA a part of the political debate

Maybe you think we are crazy but we do believe in the power that social networks give to all of us

Our friends at FOX News are taking questions from viewers and this is where you come in

Go to the website below, search for "SOPA" and "PIPA" and upvote as many questions as you can.

Together we can make these bills part of the debate

Read + Share + Spread + UPVOTE = Stop #SOPA

This is an awesome mobile web app (works on the regular web too, but you'll want to resize the browser to make it look right) for finding your local Congressman or Congresswoman and getting their position on SOPA based on contributions, along with their phone number and social media contacts. Great stuff.

Ok, I've got one extra Amazon Kindle FIRE left, and its too late to return it. So I'm giving it away!

How to win the brand new, unopened Amazon Kindle FIRE in only two steps:
Step 1) Do you have me in one of your circles? Great. Check that one off the list...
Step 2) Publicly SHARE this post.

That's it! You're entered to win, and I'll ship it to you ANYWHERE.

Wait, you want more chances to win? Ok, I'll tell you what:
- One extra entry if you leave a comment telling me WHY you want it.
- One extra entry if you Subscribe to our Livid Lobster newsletter!

You'll find the newsletter subscription form here: http://lividlobster.com/

I'll announce the winner on Geek Beat LIVE on Friday Jan 6 (basically in a week), and then here on Google+. Good luck to all!

PS - Damn, I love to give stuff away. Wait till you see what I'm planning in the new year... ;-)

Hello (rest of the) World

Google+ is finally open for the rest of the world so I thought it was about time I updated the Google+ Start-Up Guide.

Today I am releasing version 2. Thank you all for the tremendous feedback for version 1. I took the most important things and updated the presentation accordingly to help increase its clarity. The changes are subtle but helpful.

Please share this version to your new friends instead of the original :) & Enjoy!

Also, if you have read my 3-part meditation on Google+ you know that I don't think Facebook will be going anywhere anytime soon. So I finally added the subscribe button to my Facebook profile so feel free to add me there as well :) Competition is great.

Is Facebook hot or not? Our new editor in chief +Lance Ulanoff looks at whether the recent Facebook changes are helping the site to stay relevant, or confusing users with too many features.

What do you think? Will Facebook maintain its lead?

HAPPY 13TH BIRTHDAY GOOGLE!!

I can't begin to tell you how many ways Google has improved my life.

Interesting note: Today is the 13th anniversary of Google Inc being registered as a corporation. This was almost one year after Google.com was registered (Sept 15 1997).

However, Google tends to celebrate its birthday with a Google Doodle on September 27th ... anyone know why they chose this date?
