#PixelShift returns!

My first new post is a continuation of my work creating adaptive icons for the most popular apps (nearly 3x as many as what I shared a few weeks ago!)

Check them out! Also, I have another post coming in a couple of days, so keep an eye out!

First time at AT&T Park last night, and was blown away by the views of the city and the Bay Bridge from the stadium.

With how much Google is promoting Chromebooks with Android app support, you'd think they'd finally start caring about designing their apps for large screens again... but nope!

Some very interesting additions and changes to the MD guidelines. Lots around making MD much more customizable and unique for different brands.

With the recent releases of the new Google Tasks app, and now the updated Google I/O app (the Google Pay and Google Play Games apps are also good examples), we're starting to get a fuller sense of what the Material Design is evolving to.

I'm curious, what changes have stood out to members of this community? Also, what are your general impressions and thoughts on where Google is taking MD?

Some of the changes I've noticed are:

- The status and app bars are now the same color
- Centered app bar titles
- Product / Google Sans is being used for all header and button text, with Roboto still being used for body text
- Lighter and shorter shadows, like elevations are being reduced
- Rounder corners on cards and dialogs
- Oh, and liberal use of white

Personally, I really like these changes. I think "MD2" looks really clean and modern. Though at the same time, I understand why people are upset about everything becoming so bright, and I think Google needs to seriously consider a dark mode.

Whoa, I just noticed that Google actually implemented the parallax animation when moving an #AdaptiveIcon around. Has that always been there, or is this something that's new?

It's been nearly a full year since Google introduced adaptive icons, yet this is still the world we're living in.

Of just the Google apps I have on my phone, there are 23 apps with unoptimized icons, and 13 that haven't even been given an adaptive version at all.

Google needs to do better. It should do better.
