Mia unua kanto-traduko. Vi tuj rekonos la kanton, certe se vi havas tiom da jaroj kiel mi. Kion vi pensas?

KIEN LA FLORETOJ IRIS?
fare de P. Seeger, tradukis C. Lambard

Kien la floretoj iris,
Forpasintaj?
Kien la floretoj iris,
Pasintaj for?
Kien la floretoj iris?
La fraŭlinoj ilin ŝiris.
Ĉu ili lernos ajn?
Ĉu ili lernos ajn?

Kien la fraŭlinoj iris?
Al la fraŭloj, oni diris.

Kien la fraŭloj iris?
Al soldatoj, oni diris.

Kien la soldatoj iris?
Al tombejoj, oni diris.

Kien la tombejoj iris?
Al floretoj, oni diris.

Kien la floretoj iris?
La fraŭlinoj ilin ŝiris.

Tosay I said goodbye to an old friend.

About 40 uears ago I bought a Yaesu FT-101EE from a consignment table at a now defunct ram radio dealer in Billings, Montana. That radio served me well through a couple of moves, a marriage, and some more moves, but I hadn't even turned it on in about a decade, and in fact had moved on to two other rigs since.

Today a friend of mine who is a retired Extra Class licensee with, to say the least, limited funds dropped by. I had been thinking about giving him the FT-101EE, but today seemed to be an opportune time to go ahead and donate it to him. It's well worth repairing, and even if he pays a bit for new tubes, a new tuning knob and a full alignment, it'll be a darn sight cheaper than buying anything new.

I was sad to see the rig go. We had had some great times together, winning contests and ragchewing into the night and working the world, but I have moved on to an Icom IC-7300; plus, we are moving and I have come to the realization that I can't keep everything I've ever owned. Much better to put ti somewhere where it will be appreciated and used.

[en] I just finished the Esperanto tree on Duolingo! Yayayayayay!!!!!

That and five bucks would get me a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

I spent most of the afternoon building an NE555-based circuit that alternately flashes two LEDs on and off. It should have only taken about an hour, but I kept creating non-working circuits. Either neither light would light up, or both would stay on constantly, or one light would go on and stay on. Ripping out all the components and jumpers from the solderless breadboard and placing them again would inevitably produce one of those three results.

The one thing I did not do until the last iteration of the circuit was reseat the IC on the breadboard. Once I did that the circuit sprang to life. The LEDs only cycle every three seconds, but that works for me.

Why I didn't decide to reseat the IC earlier is beyond me. Sometimes I amaze myself.
