It’s #TBT! #DidYouKnow that #China was the first nation to discover and drink tea as a beverage. China has cultivated tea for over 2000 years. One legend claims that the discovery of tea occurred in 2737 BC by the Emperor of China. The character for “tea” emerged in approximately the Tang Dynasty (618-907). When Lu Yu (the Sage of Tea) compiled his masterpiece, The Classic of Tea, he decided that it was necessary for tea to have a unified term. At this time the Chinese character 茶 (cha) was adopted, and it has been in use ever since.
