Hi Justin,

Thanks for your help throughout the day.

As an Android user, I was even less successful than you've been today.

It appears that for an Android device to detect the Eddystone url that is being transmitted from the beacon, a specific app needs to be installed and used.

This seems completely barmy to me as surely a significant USP of Eddystone is to be able to transmit to devices that may never have heard of Eddystone - much less have an app installed, just in case a beacon is transmitting in its locale!!??

I completely get that it's early days yet, and as such bugs can be expected - but this is far from a bug in my opinion.

I'm really not seeing where the 'value add' is at the moment...???

Hi Craig,

No worries, you're very welcome.

Agreed, the lack of baked-in Android support surprised me too. This needs to be addressed as a matter of priority and I expect it will be.

If you'd like to jointly explore ways to address your specific use case please feel free to get in touch.

All the best,
Justin

Last year I undertook a synchronous MOOC entitled ‘Learning How To Learn’.
I’ve raved about this MOOC ever since as I truly believe that anybody responsible for the development of others, should undertake this MOOC….

As regular readers will know, I'm always keen to break out of the 'L&D bubble' that many of us exist in and look outside of our industry for new ideas, practices and tools that will better enable me to do my job as an L&D practitioner.

This has led to me recently attending a Chartered Institute of Marketing event entitled

"How to gamify your marketing using the 6 Cs framework"

In Week 4 of this MOOC we took a look at 'Visual Communication'.

I learned a little more about Gestalt Theory and discovered the hidden truth about

"the eyes....."
I've made it to the end of Week 4 in this Content Strategy MOOC in which we looked at Visual Communication and I stopped to consider 'the eyes...'

I've been taking my 2 children (currently aged 6 and 4) to the children's classes for almost 3 years and it has been great to see them develop. The club not only focusses (obviously) on the technical aspect of the subject but also actively promotes healthy eating, respect, social skills, sharing, attention - all the things that any conscientious parent is keen to see their child develop. If your child fancies trying out something new why not check out their website for further details and pop along on a Saturday morning - I know they'd love to see you.
