These images of an eerily beautiful landscape raise questions about secrecy, transparency, and the universal human attraction to ruins.

For the first time in 183 years, Historic Werrington House was open to the public.

Ventured along, so did a few other hundred people, considering it was only open for three hours and there was a two hour wait to snout through the house, uninterrupted photo ops weren't to be.

It's hidden right in the middle of 70s constructed suburban dreams, if it wasn't for the new gates you'd never know it was nestled in there.

For many years it was home to the "Father of Federation" Sir Henry Parkes, Premier of NSW on 5 separate occasions from 1872 to 1891. Now owned by the former NSW Opposition Leader Captain Peter Collins and his wife Jennine.

This cafe is well worth the visit. Friendly, attentive and accommodating staff are at it's core. The food is delicious, well presented and great value for money. Another review mentioned that the coffee was "hit and miss" and I must admit my first was served cooler than I prefer, a quick word to the staff had it corrected immediately and replaced with a hot one that allowed the flavour to really shine through. Will be sure to visit again.

You couldn't find a more centrally located hotel in Surfers Paradise. It's worth paying top dollar for ocean view rooms, you will hear the avenue but the ocean will drown it out. With a few minor tweaks to service things could have been better. Will strongly consider staying here again.

Helm bar is a great place if you want to have some casual drinks. Staff are always attentive and attitude free. Good choice of menu options. $13 jugs of beer, who doesn't like that.

Great Korean tucked away in a shopping arcade, get there early to grab a table as space is limited. Beautifully fresh and crisp spring rolls, delicious kimchi bulgogi, spicy dolsot bibimbap are all must haves. BBQ is very popular with regulars, especially families.

Having seen the Glenmore go from an astroturfed rooftop can bar to it's polished modern self you knew it was inevitable. Tucked away in the backend of The Rocks with a great view of the harbour and city skyline.

If only Ragu wasn't in the middle of a Westfield food court it'd be a five star venue. Great service, great food, best as a late lunch venue once the crowds have left the building.
