Further Explorations of Mutable Instruments PEAKS + BRAIDS + WARPS + ELEMENTS + RINGS + CLOUDS with the Music Thing Modular Radio Music (custom mirror-polished version from Magpie Modular) and the Make Noise Richter Wogglebug. The Eventide H9 is processing Rings. All patched and perform live in one take with no additional overdubs or processing.

This was just a quick, spur-of-the-moment test of my newly acquired, custom mirror-polished Radio Music module from Magpie Modular. I had just gotten home after an 8 hour day of work and a 3 and a half hour modular synth concert. I was tired... but inspired! Patch Notes: Radio Music into Mutable Instruments Elements, Braids into Rings then into Clouds. Make Noise Richter Wogglebug providing influence over Rings "Dampening" and "Position" and Clouds "Density" and "Size".

Just got Braids a couple of days ago; second rough test with it in my simple one row Eurorack setup...

Braids output is being sent to the Eventide H9, and I am controlling the mix with a little Behringer mixer (tucked underneath the Phenol synth.) Braids, Elements and Rings are all being played and/or sequenced via three Moog Mother-32s (off screen to the left; only the keypad and sequencer of the Mother-32s are being used as a controller for the Mutable modules, no audio is coming from the Moogs.)

The Make Noise Richter Wogglebug is influencing all modules with it's weird randomness in both subtle, and not-so-subtle ways. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7e9a5X_X_E

Out now is my 14th current release on my record label, and my first release under my actual name... which also marks a new direction for me with this release. This is the debut EP of my Experimental Ambient Soundscape project under my own name. Each track was performed live in one take, with no overdubs or multi-tracking, using a very minimal, one row of Eurorack synth modules.

The 3 tracks of this EP were meant to be heard as one cohesive piece; a sort of cinematic soundscape. So sit back, close your eyes, and enjoy the journey!

This is a simple example of me manually playing my small Eurorack setup. I wanted to explore how I can play this as a self-contained instrument with no sequencers or external effects. I only wish I had two (or more) Make Noise Pressure Points in order to have more than 4 notes to play...

And speaking of Pressure Points, the top row of knobs/tunings is being sent to the Mutable Instruments Rings module, and the middle row of knobs/tunings is being sent to the Mutable Instruments Elements. So when I play a touchpad on the Pressure Points, it is sending two different tunings to the two Modules. If I had a third voice, I can send the bottom row a different tuning as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZQm8sB4CwA

::| A Good Pair of Headphones or Speakers are Highly Recommend |::

First test of my newly arrived Mutable Instruments Rings module. Rings is being processed by the MI Clouds module. Additional sounds from MI Elements. Rings and Elements are being "influenced" by the Make Noise Richter Wogglebug and sequenced by two Moog Mother-32s (no sounds are being used from the Mother-32s. No other sounds, effects or post-processing was done on this track.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3gc860ELs8

My second day with my friend's Buchla Music Easel. After some confusion with it on the first day, it all finally came together on this second day of exploration. One note, I didn't use the Music Easel's built-in Spring Reverb because it was really muddy sounding, so I added a touch of delay and reverb using VSTs; info provided in the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dyk5mLFpDU

My live performance as "Science Patrol" for Sonic Lodge 1 - An Evening of Ambient/Drone Performances. Despite some technical glitches before and during my performance, it went pretty well for what it was. Unfortunately we weren't able to capture direct audio, and this was all shot on an iPhone in low light, so, not the best video quality either. Stay tuned at the end for a few seconds of the other performers of the evening...

Another quick and rough test of the Kilpatrick Audio Phenol and three Moog Mother-32s; MIDI Sync via the Elektron Octatrack, which is also providing the brief beats as well as the delay and reverb effects for the Mother-32s. This was shot shortly after the previous video, within a half hour of receiving the Phenol. Still need to learn what all it can actually do (especially with the Complex Envelopes!)

This was my fourth live performance as "Science Patrol" for the Volt Divers Experimental Electronic Music Collective, recorded November 21st 2015, at Lovecraft Bar PDX. This was also the premier of my three Moog Mother-32 synths!
