Missionaries of the Precious Blood were happy to be part of the celebration as Sr. Mumbi Kigutha, CPPS, made her first vows as a Sister of the Precious Blood in Dayton last weekend. May God bless Sr. Mumbi in her life as a Precious Blood sister!

The Boy Who Was Willing to Share His Lunch is the title of an attractive children’s Bible booklet. It features this boy in today’s Gospel. But we suspect something much bigger is going on here … goodness and generosity are contagious.

In Christ Jesus you who once were far off have become near by the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13).

These words from Ephesians mark an important part of who we are as Precious Blood people. They remind us of all the places we have been. Of all the ways in which we were once far off, distant from the Lord and from each other. They also remind us of all the work we have yet to do. The call to ongoing conversion, which reminds us that in the Blood of Christ we can always be brought closer.

Summer weekends are for festivals--and our folks at Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, Ind., have been wholeheartedly participating. They're doing this to strengthen bonds between the college and the community. And they're having fun! May God bless everybody who's celebrating in the streets this summer.

When I was in formation with the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, I volunteered at a senior care facility. It was suggested by the spiritual care department that I visit some of the people who were living there independently. On my first visit, a woman invited me in and asked me to sit down. Then she said, matter-of-factly, “So, what do you have to tell me about God?” I was stunned and realized that I hadn’t actually thought about what I was supposed to do. I had volunteered at other places—but none of those had any spiritual component. I wondered to myself, why had I been sent here? At last I responded, “Well, I don’t think I have anything to tell you about God, maybe we could just talk.”

Brother Matthew Schaefer, C.PP.S., is in ministry at the Dayton Region Seven parishes, which include Emmanuel, Holy Trinity and St. Joseph.

Fr. Emanuele Lupi, C.PP.S., a member of the Italian Province, has been appointed secretary general of the C.PP.S. worldwide, to take the place of Fr. Jeffrey Kirch, C.PP.S., who was elected provincial director of the Cincinnati Province in May. God bless you, Fr. Emanuele, for taking on the important task of keeping the Missionaries around the world connected!

The annual Urban-Rural Farm Mass in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati this year will be held in the shadow of St. Charles Center, on the farm of Doug & Sarah Franck. Please join us in praying that preparations go smoothly and that God blesses this event with good weather! Our Missionaries will be there--thanks to the Francks for hosting.

Our Fr. Dennis Chriszt, C.PP.S., traveled to the C.PP.S. mission in Vietnam to give presentations on Precious Blood spirituality. He's safely home now and says the Precious Blood hospitality he enjoyed there was warmly welcoming. Thank you, God, for our Precious Blood family around the world.
