After graduating from the University of Michigan, Jeff Silver moved to Chicago in 1984 to join a friend who had just started his own trucking business. In 1999 that company, American Backhaulers, had grown to be the second largest freight brokerage in North America at the time. He took a five-year hiatus to pursue a master of business administration from the University of Michigan and a master of engineering in logistics from MIT. And in 2006 Jeff and his wife, Marianne, returned to the industry and founded Coyote. Coyote's culture, technology, people, and expertise caught the attention of UPS, which acquired Coyote in August 2015. Now in its tenth year of operation, Coyote has grown to 2,000 people in 17 offices.
