Treat Yo' Self: Dead Sea Mud Facial Mask Product Review
Every once in awhile a gal just needs some time for pampering. It doesn't have to mean spending a lot of money or time, but setting aside even an hour dedicated solely to you and you alone can leave you feeling rejuvenated.  On Sunday nights, I usually like...

Easy chicken stir fry with teriyaki from Soy Vay. #TasteSoyVay
It's been awhile since I've posted a new recipe. Not that I haven't been cooking; I have! I just haven't been documenting as well as I should be or as eagerly as I was at the beginning of the year.  Isn't that how it goes? ...

Introduction
I am a writer who is constantly learning, exploring and dreaming up new ideas. I have been fortunate enough to experience many of life's great opportunities and surrounded by people who cheer me on rather than hold me back.

I am happy 99% of the time. The other 1% is made up of life's inevitable heartbreaks, extreme temperatures and when I have been woken from a lovely, deep slumber.

Didn't know quite what to expect, but left impressed. First of all, the service is fantastic! Friendly and then some - from everyone. My co-workers and I stopped by for lunch and ate on the patio since we had our other co-worker's dog with us. The servers brought out water for the pup, which was sweet. I got the Papas Balls which are fried balls of potatoes topped with cotija and a delicious, semi-spicy sauce. I also ordered the Ahi Club which was SO freakin' good! I definitely recommend it. They have a lot of options on the menu and put their own twist on every item. I've heard they have good chilaquiles as well for breakfast. Next time we'll be visiting for Taco Tuesday. AYCE for $10 + karoake? Say no more, we're there!

I'm really glad we stumbled upon this spot. Not usually in the Kensington area, but had a great time here. The place is laid-back, the service super friendly and on point. We ordered the breadstick twists with roasted garlic and pizza sauce. I did a make-your-own 9-inch pizza of salami, pepperocini, and caramelized onion and it was superb. My guy had plain ol' pepperoni and a Bud Light - true Americana. They have pastas and desserts as well. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked wonderful and I'll be back to enjoy more.

I like the variety of the menu at B.J.'s. It's a good go-to when you don't know quite what you want. We've been here for all three meals and have always had good service and good food. Next time I'll probably order a pizookie trio that I saw on someone else's table. It's a chain, so it's pretty standard, nothing exceptional, but sometimes you just want a trusty standby.

Plenty of choices of both cheesesteaks and other kinds of sandwiches. I ordered the Cheez Whiz Cheesesteak as a combo, as I can't imagine having one without it and it was ooey, gooey good. The meat was flavorful mixed with chopped, grilled onions and a healthy lathering of the Cheez Whiz. The garlic fries I opted for were delicious with bits of fresh garlic and parsley throughout, but the intense garlic actually didn't become overwhelming. I like that they offer different size portions because cheesesteaks are best eaten fresh, so the smaller size was perfect for me. The peppers bar was clean and well stocked with an array of peppers, pepperocinis, and other condiments like ketchup, hot sauce, and steak sauce. Looks wise, it's like your average sub shop, but food wise it raises the bar. This parking lot can get pretty crowded, but I'll return to try other items off the menu.

I've overlooked this space since there's another Irish bar on the same block, same side of the street. However, a suggestion from my guy directed me here for lunch. The inside is dark and tavern-y (for lack of a better word). It is the kind of place where you could easily drink a few pints and lose track of the time. Since I had to go back to work, I did not partake in beer drinking but instead their menu offering of half sandwich. The fish sandwich was delicious, if not a bit messy. The fish still had a firmness to it and just the right amount of batter. The potato leek soup was tasty and on a cold day would sure hit the spot if served in a bread bowl. We had great service and should have visited a few days sooner for St. Patrick's Day. Oh well, there's always next year.

Hello, view! My friend and I came for lunch during Restaurant Week. It was first time and I enjoyed the charm of the building and the beautiful surroundings. It was a $15 lunch menu which included 2 choices of 3 courses. I chose the ceviche and the lobster roll. The ceviche, while tasty, was different than others I had. It had kind of a gelatinous sauce that put me off at first, but tasted just fine. The lobster roll was a generous serving of two mini rolls stuffed full with lobster and a side of skinny fries. We both ordered sangria ($10 each) and it was the perfect Friday afternoon meal. Our service was great. Our server answered several questions we had about the menu. I loved all the seafood choices and the view is definitely impressive.

If you've been on 5th in Hillcrest recently, you may have walked right by this adorable little hut without registering that it's a place of business. It sits right next to Brazen BBQ and offers juices, smoothies, and fruit bowls. Turned out to be a great choice after a morning hike. I ordered one of the specials of the day which was $4, cheaper than their normal prices of $6 an $7, and it was delicious. Peanut butter, banana, coffee... You could taste each of the ingredients and it was my first experience with chia, which is interesting in itself. They have a lot of tasty sounding options and the couple in front of us ordered a bowl which also looked fresh and delicious. The stand itself is enticing with fresh fruit and produce everywhere. I like the simplicity of it and that's it a walk-up outside stand. It's nice that it's located right across from the 24 HR Fitness because it'd be a good post-workout treat. The service was super friendly and they let us know we could request a make-your-own smoothie mixture, which I may have to try sometime.
