The role of animals in mountain rescue is well documented, with Search and Rescue Dogs Association members in many teams helping cut the time spent searching for outdoor enthusiasts in distress. Thanks to the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team for bringing to our attention a new use of four-legged friends aiding their human buddies: the rescue cat.

Interesting, I'm part of a project http://www.peaktopub.org which has had this for quite some time. I'd be interested to know how it compares! I notice the 999 scheme does actually require you to have signal, unlike ours which will send trigger wherever you find yourself.
