The rooms are alarmingly small - without exageration, I've seen walk-in closets MUCH bigger and with better ventilation. To give some perspective, it would be impossible to move about the room if a full sized ironing board were provided - which is why they only provide a very small tabletop board that does not entirely fit on the desk that is inches from the bed yet still only inches from the room door when open. The furniture is very inexpensive (almost IKEA-like) and includes a desk and a standing closet - because there is no closet built in to the rooms. The window opened to a black wall outside the hotel, providing no light and the wallpaper was peeling up from the floors. When I called and asked for a bigger room I was told that this was their standard size and room quality. Rooms that small need to be charming and provide some sort of advantage that allows you to get over not being able to move about the room if your luggage is open. While the location and staff were great (which is what keeps this at 2 stars versus 1) they simply weren't enough to convince me to stay even a single night - I checked out within moments. The price of ~$200 a night is absolutely absurd - regardless of location. Lots of work to do here, Cosmopolitan. LOTS.

Terrible hotel: small room, air conditioner isn't working, parking lot too expensive (200$ for 3 nights), some tv channels didn't work, 30 minutes wait to get your car back. Do not sleep in this hotel !

My room was pretty small, but it was very clean and the room service was very prompt and cheap. I had a great stay here!

Very reasonable hotel for a few night stay. Rooms are small, but clean and updated. Front desk staff were professional and offered everything from umbrellas (it poured during my stay) to taxi service. There was construction going on outside the building, however, this is New York City and its everywhere. Bring earplugs just in case. Otherwise, very pleased with my stay here.

The other reviews are pretty accurate. My room was the best of the hotel I think. The two other rooms were nice size and the forth which was a rejected room was, I believe, the room from hell which others have commented on previously. There is the air conditioner issues which are loud and bring in air from in between two buildings filled with what looks like dust I have seen from recent tragic documentaries. All three of us left the hotel with a hacking cough. Once outside the hotel, a few hours of hacking and all was over. But back in the hotel and back again with breathing problems until after we left. Breathing as usual. The Positive parts were the staff. The hotel must have restaffed because these staffers were impeccable!!! Never did any one of them forget a name, fail to do jobs that we didn't even think were necessary or miss a chance to give warm wishes or complements that were not overly done. And the class that emitted from the walls and furniture could be felt as you stepped through the doorway. For these reasons I gave it four stars.

Me and my husband stayed at the Cosmopolitan Hotel from Nov 13 to 18, in a very tiny room located at the end of the 6th floor. The room was clean and well presented as well as the bathroom, soft color, simple but nice, furniture very well distributed considering the small size of the room, however storage enough, desk, chair and plasma TV. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Maintenance of the areas is good, everything looks neat and clean. Elevator is kind of slow, there is only one, like those old style elevators in NY old building, part of the magic, however little annoying waiting so long for the elevator to arrive, but still okay. " Location, location, location" is a huge plus for this hotel, close to excellent restaurants, convenience stores like whole foods. We loved the place and for sure if we need to stay there again, we would do it without any doubts. Staff gave us nice welcoming, very friendly, warm people. Really recommend this hotel. You can fin good deals on price working with travel operators, directly with the hotel is kind of pricey.

They messed up the reservation by giving away one of the rooms we had booked. The made up for it by offering a room at another location. The rooms are not what you would call "up to date ".
