It's time for the Gravitron open beta and I need your help!

What I need: People to play the game I have in development, and then record their thoughts, feelings, and other feedback about the game.

What you need: an Android smartphone with version 2.2 or later (I can help you if you don't know what version you have)

What you get: a free copy of the game AND the person with the most referrals gets a prize gift card, so pass it on.

Educational Game Design First Steps: Find a way to Avoid "Testing"

I go through pages and pages of handwritten notes at the beginning of any design process. This last week I moved out of the research phase of my educational game design, and started incorporating the things that I had learned from educational research...

This kind of thing is so fascinating to me. A struggling film FX company uses what they have learned making scifi and horror films to create the perfect dummy for training military medics. Talk about taking VFX and training to the next level!

I read your post and I found it very interesting.  You have some great insights.  Since I am an educator in an elementary school, I want the apps I use to meet learning outcomes because the tablets are starting to more into schools at alarming rates.  Let's put pure educational apps into the hands of our kids and mostly our teachers.  Most teachers feel like newbies to iPads and so they need to use apps that are user-friendly first and that can be used to meet prescribed learning outcomes.  Our schools will be purchasing thousands of apps over the next year and they will be looking for those apps that meet those two criteria mostly.  Here is a link a summary of the prescribed learning outcomes the province of British Columbia is moving towards that I created.  Perhaps it may help you?  I have taken apps that help teachers meet those learning outcomes.  http://mykidslocker.com/cup-of-b-c-digital-literacy-curriculum-ipads-and-resources/

A couple of months ago, I set out to write a literature review on the effectiveness of gamification in instructional settings, and I hoped to find more academic literature on the topic. Honestly, I had a hard time finding anything. To get at what i was look...
