In the spirit of National Coming Out Day...

I signed up for Facebook back when you didn't have to pick a gender.
I'm an "other" here on G+.

If I could, I would choose only to do business with companies who didn't force me to choose a gender or select from an incomplete list of courtesy titles. But I can't, because there are too damn many of them.

I miss Glitch, the first game I ever played where I didn't have to pick a gender for my character. And I'm enjoying Minecraft, where I can be a cat if I feel like it.

Took the collar and long sleeves off a shirt. Cut it almost too close above the top button for the collar, but made it work anyway. Used about a million pins, and I'm happy with how it came out.

Update for the Plus crowd: I continue not_ded. On second round of antibiotics for ear infection that just won't quit.  Can't hear worth anything. On the bright side, it's been awfully peaceful today.

I'm home sick today, but the moment I get out of the bed, it's time for the cats to pile in it. Note that as soon as I shuffle the cats around, another cat appears. (If you can't see her, it's Rosie the tortie, in a clump of four cats.)

All done but the binding. Off to the Savage Quilter today.

I'm amazed by how much quilt can actually be rolled up and stuffed under the arm of even a standard sewing machine. (The quilt I'm working on is about 5' by 6'.)

While they aren't as adorable as teeny kittens, it's been cat-photo day today.

Friendly yearly reminder:

If you love your momma please do celebrate a special day with her. It's fine and we're all happy for you. (I do love my momma and will do my best to find something neat to surprise her with.)

But Mother's Day is for your mom and the moms of various family members, and maybe moms that you know, especially if you know their kids won't be able to do anything for them. It's not for random women you encounter. They may not be mothers; they may be struggling with infertility, loss of a child, divorce, loss of a spouse. They may have an unhappy relationship with their own mother or they may have just lost their mother (or both).

It's especially important not to press this kind of wish on someone when you have the social upper hand, like when you're the customer and they're the employee, because it's not like they can walk away and go be hurt somewhere else.

I have a few good Mother's Days left, but someday it won't be a good day for me, either. I hope we've all learned some tact by then.

Not the best quilting but I'm happy with it. (32" by 32" approx)
